Police say the boy got the gun from his home. Police say the boys parents are cooperating, but they could still face charges in the case. A major water main break is causing headaches for commuters in baltimore county. Captain jeff long is over the scene in sky eye chopper 13. Captain jeff . Good morning. This east water main break, as a result of construction work being conducted at the towson reservoir. Workers there close vowel valves, causing increase in pressure here. And the area impacted by this break, extended as far west as loch raven boulevard. And as far south as northern parkway. Heres how it looked today. Trying to restore water pressure and Water Service. Residential Water Service has been restored. However, some businesses remain without water, or with low water pressure. At the top of your screen, you can see the new piece of pipe that is getting ready to go in. And the a 12inch main that runs through hare. We were looking around at splft businesses in this area. Theres a Grocery Store on this road. And they are open. There are some restaurants here, however, with empty parking lots. As you can see, east joppa road, between seven quartz drive and bel air road remains shut down in both directions. Reporting live from sky eye chopper 13, im captain jeff long. Kristy breslin will have more on how this is impacting the evening commute in a few minutes. Anne arundel conty police are looking for the woman responsible for a hitandrun in a parking lot. Police say this woman hit a 62yearold man while he was walking in that parking lot in the 8400 block of fort smallwood road in pasadena. The driver sped off after the accident. Anyone who recognizes her is asked to call Anne Arundel County police. A near collision puts hundreds of passengers at risk for jumbo jets. Thanks to the quick thinking of air Traffic Controllers, everyone is safe. Now, both 747s were over scotland, about to cross the atlantic. One climbed to the cruising altitude, which put them on a path to collide. Air Traffic Controller told them to immediately turn in opposite directions. But the pilots missed and turned toward each other. The plane came within three miles of each other, when they got emergency orders to change directions, avoiding a potential disaster. Kai . Denise, thank you. About 1,000 passengers were on board the two planes. Today, the Obama Administration is coordinating what it calls a tech surge, to improve the healthcare website, plagued with problems since its launch. As Danielle Nottingham reports for wjz, House Republicans are trying to get to the bottom of what went wrong. Reporter under the new healthcare law, individuals who do not have hrns insurance insurance by march 31st of next year, will have to pay a 95 fine. After a little rain late tonight and early tomorrow morning, were going to get into a chillier pattern, as the jet stream takes a dip here in the east. Temperatures for the rest of the week will be running anywhere from 8 to maybe 10 degrees cooler than average, which means generally low to mid50s and a lot of nighttime lows back in the 30s. Mary . As you know, a major water main break is affecting our area. It happened at east joppa, earlier this morning. The 4100 block, between 7 quartz and bel air road. That air is still completely shut down. Right now, the only way to get around that is to take Silver Spring road. But this definitely is going to have quite an impact on the rush hour. Well continue to bring you up to date. Northbound 95. Slowing there from 32 to 100. West side inner loop, delays stretching approaching past liberty road. The top side of the inner loop, a watch for congestion there. Green spring to providence road. And several accidents to report. 295 at russell street. Annapolis road at west patapsco. They were grounded due to government budget cuts. As mike schuh reports, youll once again be able to see them in the skies over maryland. Here in annapolis, theyre considered the worlds premiere demonstration flight team. Five months ago, when politicians couldnt agree on how to fund the government, the angels were grounded. Cheers to graduate. No joy that the Graduation Air show was canceled. Its been three years since they last performed here. Two years ago, and an improperly performed maneuver and practice led to a safety and standup. Last year, the graduation date was moved and the team was booked up. Now, the show will go on. Fire and police in colorado are looking for an arsonist. This is one of four suspicious fires in denver overnight. A twoalarm fire engulfed a car port and destroyed nine vehicles. Fires all happened in the area of lakewood. Two were car fires and two destroyed buildings. No one was hurt in any of these blazes. Nearly a dozen cars destroyed. The metro Commuter Rail car hit a truck full of cars, near the chicago suburb of bartlett. There was a minor derailment. The truck fell onto the cars parked near the rail station. Employers added fewer jobs than expected in september. 148,000, compared to the 180,000 economists were looking for. The Unemployment Rate dipped to a nearly 5year low, of 7. 2 . Mainly because people stopped looking for work. The release of the jobs report was delayed by nearly two weeks because of that shutdown. Wall street believes that will convince the Federal Reserve to leave its economic stimulus plan intact, until at least next year. Apple unveiled a slimmer, lighter and faster tablet today and renamed it ipad air. The Company Also Announced its latest operating system from Mac Computers is now available, free of charge. And a major milestone from netflix. The Video Streaming Service surpassed hbo. 39 million to hbos 29. Burns has spent his career, using mri brain scans to study Decision Making in humans. But it had never been done on dogs. Among the problems, they needed to stay awake and still. To block out the noise, she was trained to wear special earmuffs and to stay still. She was given commands and shown food like hot dogs. First by a stranger, then by her owner. Were trying to sort out how shes responding, not just to the signals but who is giving the signals. Reporter what burns found was that in one key part of the brain, dogs react with love and attachment, the same way humans do. When you see katies mri on the screen, what do we learn about her . The dew points up a little bit from where it was yesterday, up to 45 degrees, which means a little more moisture in the air and because we had light sprinkle activity in the area, still a little residual moisture. 57, westminster. Low 60s dun by the bay. Weve got a west northwest wind. Tomorrow looks like a northerly flow will bring in somewhat chillier air than what were seeing today. Tomorrow, only in the 50s. And because we do expect to see quite a few clouds, its not going to feel like a great day. Along the east coast, weve got rain across southern sections of carolinas, all the way down to the gulf coast. Most of that is going to pass to our east. A weak frontal boundary that will pass through today. Brought a little sprinkle activity, pretty much gone, as you saw, with sunshine. But this rain event down to the south is going to get very close to us late tonight and tomorrow morning. So particularly, from baltimore east, theres a better chance of rain. North and west, probably in the much in the way of rain. But another system moving to the west. Bringing chilly rain, even snow flurry activity. To portions of iowa and illinois. Temps are in the mid to upper 30s. Wont get that cold here and not right away. Theres a weak little low pressure, key call it quickly moving to the west. Police in greece still are searching for the biological parents of the little girl, found in a gypsy settlement. A u. S. Family is amongst several others who think that the child known as maria could be their daughter. Alphonso van marsh has the latest for wjz. A greek Childrens Charity says it has identified eight missing children from around the world who could be the girl known as maria. The smile the Child Charity has been caring for maria, since Police Arrested and charged a man and woman with kidnapping her. A kansas city couple says maria strongly resembles their daughter, lisa irwin, who was taken during a Home Invasion in 2011. Theyve contacted greek authorities with an image of how lisa may look today. However, lisa would only be about 3 years old now. The Greek Charity says maria is closer to 5 or 6. A greek Prosecutor Says a child psychiatrist and language translator will speak with maria to learn more about where shes from. Police said they became suspicious because maria looked nothing like the people in the community, also known as gypsy, where police found her. This woman says the public is prejudging their community. She said, here in greece, there are rumors that we steal kids and send them to beg on the streets. They admitted they adopted her illegally, but denied child trafficking. Some say their kids skip class because they fear authorities will come take them away. Pulitzer prizewinning journalist. Two of Ariel Castros victims say their true and accurate story will help them to heal. They will be interviewed by mary jordan of the washington post. The third victim, michelle knight, did not participate in the book, but will be on the dr. Phil show next month. Ariel castro, who was serving life in prison, hanged himself last month. Jessica schneider reports, the mother of one of the men in the fight said her son is not to blame, even though hes seen punching a woman. She was the aggressor. She just came out of nowhere and started punching my son. Reporter colleen pashkey was there, when this brawl broke out. She said five patriots fans, including two women, started fighting with her friends. Thats when her 38yearold son kurt jumped in to break it up. He went over to pull them off the guy and the girl. And thats when they grabbed my son and started punching him. The one guy was holding him while the other guy was punching him. Reporter what she describes wasnt captured on video. But in the chip thats gone viral, you can see curt in the chaos, when he suddenly gets pulled back. A blond woman lunges at him, and he throws a punch. She punched my son three times to the head. Cut his eyebrows. Guys should never hit a girl, i understand that. But you know what . When the girls are out of control, how do you defend yourself . Reporter curt pashkey was interviewed after the fight, as were the others involved. Initially, he was told no charges would be filed. But now, new Jersey State Police will only say that theyre investigating. Reporter pashski has a criminal history. In 2011, he was caught serving alcohol to minors while bartending. In the 1990s, he served 2 1 2 years in prison for fatally stabbing a teenager. But his mother said he was wrongly convicted. It happened many years ago, when my son was only 17. He was set up by a White Supremacy group. And unfortunately, he ended up taking the blame for the subbing of another youth. Reporter a mother hopes her sons name will be cleared in this incident. Reporter new Jersey State Police are investigating the incident. Passengers on a delta flight from atlanta to seattle, finally get to their destination. The plane had to make an Emergency Landing late glaft night, after heat sensors went off in the planes cargo session. The plane landed in pasco, washington as a precaution. The lights were false alarm. But passengers were forced to wait hours to wait for another plane toon on with their flight. Monthly unemployment report is two weeks late because of the government shutdown. Heres Alexis Christoforous, reporting for wjz. Economists say the unemployment numbers for september and october could be affected by the government shutdown. And we may not get a true picture of what is going on until the november report comes out. And theres more good news for job seekers. Retailers are planning to hire more holiday help than recent years. And those parttime positions could turn into fulltime work. It means the people running the business have a more positive outlook. Theyre expecting people to walk through their doors and spend money. And 51 over in d. C. And 53 in easton. Over the next several days, most of the eastern half of the united states, the jet stream is going to take a big dip, allowing colder, canadian air to move in. It happened on east jobba road. That being said, joppa is closed between seven quartz drive. Traveling along the beltway, two accidents to watch for on the inner loop. The first at providence road. Left shoulder is completely blocked off. The second on the inner loop at wilkens avenue, blocking the righthand lane. Other accidents include 543 at 95 in the Harford County area. Bel air road at wrath avenue. Garrison boulevard, at callaway avenue. As far as your delays go, top side inner loop, watch for brake lights there. Greenspring to harford road. And we have delays on the west side as well, from Baltimore National pike to liberty. Lets take a live look. As you can see, plenty of volume there at wilkens avenue. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said, there have been at least seven cases of inmates. Only three were successful, including jenkins and walker. Las vegas Police Released new information on the shooting inside the balis hotel and casino. 41yearold Benjamin Frazier is charged with killing a patron and wounding two security officers. Investigators say frazier got into a physical fight with security early monday morning. Witnesses say he started shooting when he was denied the return of his cover charge. The man killed was a patron trying to help security get the men under control. Potentially deadly mosquito has made its way to the u. S. The species has been found in more than a dozen states and the health risks are extremely troubling. Bigad shaban reports with the latest on the infestation. Biologist jody holman is working to eradicate a potentially lethal mosquito, that has swarmed her community in clovis, california. Shes collected as many moscweetdo eggs as she can count. As many as 192. You found that many in just one trap . Yes. And you have about 150 traps . Thats correct. The whitespotted mosquitoes can transmit deadly diseases, including yellow fever and denghi with just one bite. And nearly 1,000 eggs in clovis, since the mosquitoes were first spotted in june. Normal high today is around 65. By the weekend, it drops to 63, 64. Temperatures running very close to where they should be this time of year. We have a west wind now, around 10 miles an hour. That front moved to the east of us, with just a few sprinkles, for those clouds. Tomorrow, the winds go back to the north. It will bring in chillier air. Andun unfortunately, or depending on your outlook, will probably see some rain in the morning. Because of this. Down to the south, we have a frontal boundary that stalled out. Going to head up to the carolinas and offshore. The bulk of that rain will be to the southeast. Theres also a weak system moving through iowa. Even a little snow out there. Temperatures, marginal. Generally flurry of activity. This front along the coast, as you slide a little to the east. That low pressure rides along that front. Best chance of any rain from the city south and east, particularly the lower eastern shore, already some rain across southeast virginia. May not get much rain here. But west of us, with that front coming through, and that low pressure, theyll probably see a few rain and even a few wet snowflakes possible. Some of the highest elevations in garrett county. The first snowflakes of the year. And im sure theres going to be a lot more to follow. In the meantime, theres the front. Theres the weak low pressure. Chance of a little rain and it clears out, generally for the afternoon. Thursday and friday. Sunny to partly sunny skies. But cooler than normal temperatures. Generally, 8 or 9 to 10 degrees cooler than average. That means low to mid50s to low to mid60s. At least it will be drying out. North winds on the bay. Gusting to 20 knots and a small craft advisero the bay tomorrow. Tonight, overnight, the clouds come back. Maybe a little rain by morning. 45 overnight. Tomorrow, a little rain early in the day. Then sunshine. And temperatures dropping only into the mid50s for highs. Might even get that warm if we had a little rain in the morning. Could stay in the low 50s. So chilly day on your wednesday. Reporter this is the scene in the 400 block of abbot court in east baltimore. A shooting in this neighborhood, an adult female shot. Homicide has been call. Theyre on the scene investigating.
