Facing a murder charge as elise colter reports family and friends say the suspect felt like he should be getting some money from the church. An emotional scene moments after police say this man, 68yearold daniel cooler, opened fire inside st. Peters Missionary Baptist Church killing his brother. Witnesses describe what happened. This man walked in and sat down. We were singing and just got through with the morning prayer and the pastor walk back in his office. After this the man got up and walked to the back where pastor was. As we were singing maybe one verse, i noticed him go back to the pastor and next thing i heard, a boo, boom. Out of the church. Reporter state police say they believe this had something to do with the domestic dispute. There was not a person going around arbitrarily firing, shooting inside of churches. We dug deeper, in 2001 he was convicted with felonious assault with a Deadly Weapon and pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity but later that plea was withdrawn. He was sentenced to five years probation. In 2002 he was charged with kidnapping and felonious assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was convicted of the felonious assault charge and a kidnapping charge was dismissed. Reporter while police arent talking about any possible moan, the pastors congregation has their suspicions. He has threatened the pastor had some kind of monetary responsibility to the the church. A church now touched by tragedy but standing by their faith. It doesnt hurt my faith. I know god will keep us strong and together. It has been a violent weekend. An Army Staff Sergeant is working tonight. As brian webb reports, it was the first day on the job for the officer who was killed. Reporter bagpipes, candles and prayers were part of a memorial for officer ashley gwenden killed on her first day on parole with the Prince William county Police Department in virginia. Reporter three officers responded to a domestic dispute saturday night about 30 miles Police Arrested 32yearold ronald hamilton, an active duty Army Staff Sergeant assigned to the pentagon. They say he shot and killed his wife, then opened fire on the officers. It was very scary. I heard the four to five shots back to back. Reporter yellow tape roped off the crime scene sunday. Residents paid their respects at the hospital where the officers are recovering. How could this happen over something so stupid. Its so sad. Brian webb for cbs news. Two other officers are expected to recover. The officer is the fourth officer killed in the departments history. The suspect is scheduled to be in court tomorrow. A young man is in Critical Condition after he was shot by Police Say Two officers were called to break up a fight and found a man hitting someone with a broomstick. The officers say the man then tried to attack one of them and thats when he was shot. Last nights shooting touched off several hours of unrest in the rio grande district of the downtown area. Officers put on riot gear. They blocked the streets as bystanders threw rocks and bottles. Several people were arrested. The two officers are now on administrative leave which is standard procedure in officerinvolved shootings. The local chapter of black lives matter held a rally and march today. It began across the street from Western Hills high school and ended nearby at the cincinnati Police Departments district headquarters. The group is protest what it calls the policeinvolved deaths of two africanamerican men called gaston and Melvin Murray junior. Gaston was shot and killed early this month after he reached for a gun in his waste band. Murray died in a car crash back in september after police tried to stop him after they say he made an improper turn. A Fire Destroys a house in northern kentucky. Crews were called to a home in campbell county. The house was engulfed this flames as firefighters arrived around 6 00 tonight. A man who made it outside was taken to the hospital.
