While the other guys run around calling the others short and ugly and all that, john is the adult in the room. and i think he would be a great president. he did not seek reelection in 2012 because of frustrations he had with congress. over the past year, he has battled cancer. he tells us he is feeling good and continues to fight. the ohio secretary of state says he wont appeal a judges vote in tuesdays president ial primary. his Office Released a statement saying he will direct all county boards of elections to comply with the court order, in part because, even if an appeal wouldnt be enough time to make proper changes. who will turn 18 before the general election to vote in the primary but not on ballot issues. the doctor is ai professor at john carroll university. and he is joining us now to talk about what we can expect this week. and if you can tell us what to expect, you have esp. i mean, seems like we cant figure out what to expect. its been extremely unpredictable election cycle so far. into tuesday. ohio is a huge state for all the candidates involved, in particular john kasich, donald trump and especially on the democratic side, both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Rodham clinton. we keep hearing that. you watch national news. and we think that ohio is important. but how key is ohio in terms of yeah, beginning on tuesday, states can be winnertakeall for the republicans. meaning if you win the most of and get all the delegates. 66 on the republican side at stake in ohio. if kasich were to get those and not donald trump, it makes it harder for trump to get the majority before the convention. its a lot of math. but we keep talking about possibly a contested convention. i mean, you study this stuff. yeah. in terms of history and how it can play out, what are we looking at . its unprecedented in terms of the modern president ial election primary. we have not seen a contested or brokered convention for either party really since the 1970s. 1968 comes to mind as the last chaotic primary for the democrats. in 1976, the republicans were close to having one between but they settled right before the convention. so it would be huge for cleveland. all the spotlight, everyones eyes trained on us. and i want your opinion on this, because ive heard people saying, yes, a contested convention will most likely happen, you know, if those delegates are split. and others say, theres no way because that would hurt the gop. what do you think . i mean, if it came down to a contested convention, would they take that chance . yeah, i think its going to be interesting to see who has the most delegates when we get there. tuesday being a huge part of that with ohio and florida, 99 delegates, if thats a state not won by donald trump, i think its unlikely we see anybody get the majority before the convention. and if donald trump doesnt have the majority, it wouldnt surprise me to see the Republican Party try to do what they can, one last effort to stop donald trump, especially with eyes on the controlled house and Supreme Court nominations. Something Else were keeping our eye on, of course exit polls are always trending one way or another. and we have seen that here in ohio, the exit polls are showing donald trump is ahead, slightly ahead of john kasich. how much can you trust exit polls . and how much sway will these rallies have today . yeah, very interesting question because we have seen the polls be wrong on some of the states. michigan on tuesday, widely off on the democratic side of things. i think it will be interesting to see the trends as you noted. if john kasich is gain, if we see more over the weekend or early next week. and i like to look at what people are searching for. one area i research, google trends. are they looking at donald trump . john kasich . Elections Officials puzzled too. i know very little at this point in time. i was made aware last week when i saw it on facebook. its my understanding that the ones that will be reported to the secretary of state and those are the votes and the candidates that will be tabulated and reported down and determine who will win the election. reporter that squares with ohios Top Republicans take. the you like your candidate for president , vote for that candidates atlarge delegates and for the Congressional District delegates. its ultimately the atlarge vote that will be the one that determines the outcome, correct . thats correct. why the hell would anybody vote for two . reporter republicans will see candidates who have dropped out, democrats choose 143 of 195 delegates. their ballot, no room for doubt. channel 3 news. all right. very important to get out and vote on tuesday. also going on this week, we have st. Patricks day is upon us. which a lot of people thousands of people come downtown and see the parade and have celebrations around town. thats always a factor the. it is. i think the temperatures this week will feel okay. we will be above average for several days until we cool back toward the end of the sevenday forecast. but this morning, be prepared for the cloud cover and the chilly temperatures. we dropped down to the freezing mark. many areas are still in the 30s this morning and some areas are feeling like the 20s. satellite and radar has some overcast skies but starting to see partial clearing across the state. radar has been quiet. and winds quiet as well. calm to light for most. and we are starting to pull in that south and southwesterly wind flow. and thats going to help us out with temperatures and bring in, i think, a little bit more warming this afternoon. overcast skies through 9 00 hour. we will push through the 40s. but look at the 10degree jump by noon. many of us are in the lower to mid50s. i think we have a good shot of seeing the upper 50s this afternoon. and cooler by the lake side and some areas might see lower 60s and in all though, we will mix in the clouds with the sunshine. midday sun and then clouds later on this afternoon. winds will start to shift southwesterly later on today. and thats going to help out with getting temperatures out of the 40s and in through the 50s fairly quickly. we will start to see cloud cover return later on this afternoon. i would say between 4 00 and 7 00, overcast skies take over once again. and moisture creeps through but most of that will hold off until your late evening plans. i would say overnight tonight and into tomorrow. thats when we will see some rain move through. could be steady and heavy at time, so pockets of downpours. but in all, a pretty wet morning for sunday. and then midday and afternoon, chances of scattered showers tomorrow as well. and we will start to push out with the moisture by monday morning. some damp pavement to start off but most of the morning commute overall, remember to grab the sunglasses as you head out. we will have full sunshine through midday but around 5 00, 6 00, we will see the cloud cover move back in and thats going to the take the temperatures back down. overnight tonight, partly cloudy for most, and becoming breezy as we move in the southwest winds and our Window Nation sevenday forecast keeps our temperatures above average sunday and monday in the 60s. rain opportunity on monday is the greatest as we might even see showers and thunderstorms rumble on through. maureen. thank you so much. we want to get you caught up on headlines you may have missed. heres the week in review. let me show you how nice it is to be back in ohio. Patricks day already. month. going to be like . little damp. but hopefully if the timing is just right, the festivities shouldnt be impacted too much but just be prepared as the dive in temperatures should day. partly cloudy skies this morning, starting to see overnight cloud cover move through. and temperatures havent responded just yet but we will see sunshine through midday. and we have been quiet on satellite and radar all morning longs. and winds calm to light this morning, mainly out of the north, a little bit variable and now we are starting to see the winds shift. we will take on a souther wily wind flow and thats going to help to southerly wind flow and thats going to help bump up the temperatures. by the time we get to noon, all of us are well into the lower were headed for highs into the upper 50s for many. and we might see a few low 60s across our southern zones. temperature forecast for today, going for a range between 50 and 60s. and we will keep it cooler by the lake side. and pull in the sunshine this afternoon before the clouds return. overall though, we hold off on the rain opportunities for the evening. so if you have plans for saturday night dinner or social activity, you will be okay until about the 10 00, 11 00 hour overnight tonight. thats when the moisture really starts to move through. and we will see some widespread scattered showers beginning to move, even a couple areas could see some heavier downpours. but were not expecting too much accumulation of rain overnight tonight and tomorrow morning. by sunday afternoon though, we still have a few showers lingering. and tomorrows temperatures will be warmer and we have the things up and maybe see late day thunderstorms by sunday afternoon and into monday morning. at least by monday morning, we start to clear things out and dry things up. overall, i think youre going to like our saturday forecast. probably a little bit better than the rainy sunday forecast. and look at the sunshine after the noontime hour, helping those temperatures move up before the clouds pop in later on in the day. the forecast will be on the chilly side tonight. we are talking about mostly cloudy skies and temperatures going back down into the lower to middle range 30s and with the extended Window Nation sevenday forecast, things do improve. we do have rain chances on sunday. we bump up our temperatures into the middle 60s by monday. and if youre getting out to vote on tuesday, just a few morning scattered showers but you should be able to get the vote in by the time we get to st.
