february 20th, i'm amy coveno. parts of the state saw some snow overnight making it a little slick. you're looking at concord. you can see the shiny black asphalt and you can see the pavement there. meteorologist josh judge told us it was coming. it was slow going for me this morning, josh. josh: a little bit of snow and we had some snow which in some cases changed over to rain showers, not a lot of accumulation, but a coating to as much as an inch fell overnight. look at the temperatures though, it's pretty mild out there for this early in the morning. a look at the snow batch that rolled through. another one coming through right now. notice how there's more rain in the next batch as the temperatures are rising and once this area of snow pulls away this morning, then we will actually see some partly sunny skies developing in central and southern new hampshire. meanwhile, mixed rain and snow showers will continue in northern new hampshire, but look on the way. 42 to 52 for today. we'll talk about the rest of the weekend and when the colder air returns in your forecast coming up. amy: we begin this morning with video you will only see on news 9. it captures the moments the first responders plucked a woman from the merrimack river. she could not have survived very much longer. >> it was a desperate race against time reaching a woman down the merrimack river. the first challenge, spot her in the frigid, fast moving water. you can hear rescuers urge her to grab hold of a rope. firefighters lowered ropes and a ladder for her to hold onto, buying an extra minute for the >> she was dressed in dark clothes. the water is dark and it's nighttime. looking for something bouncing in the waves makes it difficult. >> she lost her grip once floating away from first responders, she reached out and grabbed the wall when the boat came to the rescue with no time to spare. firefighters pulled her to safety and sped away. >> we ended up losing the ladder and her. fortunately, by that time the boat had made it up here and we picked her off in two minutes. she's hypothermic now. >> firefighters, paramedics and police officers say they worked as a team to pull off this rescue, something they train for all year long. >> yeah, we do, but it's-- the real thing is a little more dramatic than we like. >> proud of your guys? >> jean mackin, wmur news 9. amy: great work. it was the heroin crisis amr said their crews responded to four overdoses friday afternoon between 5:15 and 5:45. patients were either using heroin or spice, a synthetic form of marijuana. that high volume of calls in such a short period of time is thankfully unusual. well, happening today, governor hassan, along with other state leaders from around the country are gathering in washington d.c. for the national governor association winter meeting. governor hassan along with charlie baker will address the opioid crisis during a health and human services meeting. senator ayotte is calling on the drug task forces and drug investigations, funds were diverted to cover short funds and now senator ayotte wants them to release it back to local law enforcement. >> we want to make sure that our law enforcement have the resources they need to be able to go after the drug dealers, to keep the heroin off our streets and obviously, we all want to still work together to get help for those struggling with addiction and we shouldn't be taking these resources away from law enforcement. >> hundreds have been put on hold until the federal government decides how to best fund the drug forfeit tour program. concord christian economy opted it can cause gnaws nausea and diarrhea. >> the best way to prevent the outbreaks, making sure that people who fill -- feel ill stay home. and city and state need a comprehensive plan for corrosion in pipes. josh: hard possibly that's still going on. amy: it's a little precipitating out there. josh: yeah, you might find a coating to an inch honoring a >> now, meteorologist josh judge with your storm watch 9 forecast. josh: well, the theme of this weekend temperatures rising to fairly mild levels this time of year, this february, after all. we're starting off with temperatures in the 30's to near 40 degrees in a couple of spots. that's certainly colder than-- warmer, rather, than you would the average or normal low for concord for this time of year is 15 degrees and we're nearing 40 in some spots. and the normal high is 36 and we're above that, too, in an awful lot of places. that's pretty interesting. look where the temperatures are headed as we head into the afternoon for concord here, steadily climbing, by mid afternoon or early afternoon we're in the upper 40's and some spots in southern new hampshire you could get near or to 50 degrees. all right, so we have several waves of snow that rolled through overnight delivering a dusting to an inch or so in many locations, but notice the last one that rolled through, a few rain showers snuck in and then more of those are around with this current batch of precipitation moving through the state. it's snow in northern new hampshire, but rain in central new hampshire and especially as the sunrises and temperatures are warming just a little bit. so this is the last batch of it of eastern new york and once this rolls through then things start to settle down a little bit in areas south of the white mountains. if you're in the mountains and points north, the ski areas and points toward the north from there, you're going to still see the continued chance of on and off rain showers and snow showers at times through the day. the state will see partly sunny skies developing as the breaks push their way in. milder air streaming in as i mentioned and here is a look at it pushing up from the southwest. sticking around through the weekend and then getting a little cooler to begin the upcoming week. the jetstream zonal flow means east to west, there's none of this big curviness that goes on and our weather is calm the next several days and so no major storms in the offing this upcoming week. talk about that in a second. a couple of mixed rain and snow showers this morning, and then turning partly sunny, but through the day, there could be rain or snow at any time in region from about the base of the white mountains and upper valley points northward. tonight some rain changing over to snow showers in the mountains and flurries in the mountains as well. everywhere else, partly sunny tomorrow and continued above average temperatures and then on monday, we've got partly sunny skies, but cooler conditions as the cold front rolls through. here is a look at projected highs for today. check it out. 40's in many locations and possibly parts of the southern merrimack valley and over to the seacoast, possibly lower 50's this afternoon briefly and a look at your forecast showing things calming down and cooling down a bit the big lake at meredith. here is a look at top stories on the half hour. local ski areas are looking for a good season, despite the lack of snow gun stock says they're having a good season. and the in south carolina. mr. judge, we'll find him in the weather center for a look at the day's forecast. josh: you certainly will. we're starting off mild, different than last weekend. you can see the slick roads out there, meaning wet from overnight rain and snow that fell in some locations, you may see a coating to as much as an inch from the overnight snow. look at the temperatures though. the snow is compacting and melting in some parts of new hampshire where it's warmer. it's started to change over to rain as well. a couple more hours of the scattered rain and snow showers and then they'll come to an end in central and southern new hampshire. but points north you can continue to see them through the day, at times, not all day, so certainly no big deal getting outdoors, but you may have to duck a couple of showers in the north country. the rest of the state looking partly sunny and look at the temperatures up near 50 degrees. defending storms are on the coming up. amy: new details on a sorry tory we brought you at 11:00. for several hours last night. this all started around 10:30 when the roads became snow covered. thankfully no one seriously injured in this, but the highway exit 15 to the vermont border closed while crews worked to clean up. new hampshire schools are on vacation, it was a slow start to the season and without the fresh powder we had last winter, many resorts have been making snow which they do so. and how are things going this year at gun stock? >> by day and night, the slopes at gunstock mountain are busy this time of year. it's hard to believe, but already a little more than a month to go of the ski season. skiers strap in at gunstock mountain for some fun under the lights. >> it was awesome, we went night skiing, it was cool, our first time doing it here. >> my face is really cold, but it was fun. i always like to stay out late doing this. >> 24 trails are open at night and about 44 during the day. about a half dozen fewer than at this time last year. aside from the slopes, there are six lanes of tubing. >> it looks really slow, but it's a lot faster when you're actually on it. >> and for the more adventurous, an air precipitation. they're seeing some rain. portsmouth one of the areas with rain at the moment and 39 degrees and southeast winds about 13 miles per hour. and notice the temperature 39, that's above the average high for today and that's where we're starting off. milder air mass for this upcoming weekend. and even temperatures are in the low to mid 30's and headed for the lower 40's as well. it's a wet start out there for sure and some rain and snow showers will be around this morning and then we turn partly sunny away from the mountains. if you're going to be in the mountains or points north there will be mixed showers through the day today. otherwise we get partly sunny and mild. mixed showers continue today, tonight, and some snow snow flurries are possible in the mountains tomorrow as well. the rest of us will see some sunshine and then the next big storm system we are watching isn't until mid to late week and that one could be interesting as well. that one certainly has been on our charts for days and days, a question of whether it's rain or snow. right now it leans towards rain. let's look at what's happening there at the moment. several waves of snow have pulled through the second one and now the current one have we saw a coating to an inch or so in a lot of locations and with the rain that's tam pd down and the road conditions aren't that bad. amy mentioned this a few minutes ago, a fall river fire been going on. you can see it on the doppler radar right here. look at the plume of smoke coming off the fire and for the last few hours, coming up on radar, so much smoke and debris and ash in the air. we back out and show you what's going on around here in new england and the northeast, once the system passes through, the sunshine, the breaks right there, begins to move on in. and not a whole lot to have to worry about for the rest of the weekend so it's getting this system out of here for today. let's see how that happens with the futurecast here with the showers pulling away from central and southern new hampshire this morning. and they'll continue at times during the day today in northern new hampshire. primarily rain and also snowflakes will be mixed in at elevation and it won't be constant all day or that heavy. light rain and rain showers are a possibility. pretty nice one out there. tonight, some snow showers continuing in the mountains and flurries continue in northern new hampshire for tomorrow as well. so for today, look at the temperatures, especially once the sun comes out this afternoon in the southern two-thirds of the state and temperatures in the upper 40's and 50's a possibility there. north country in the lower to mid 40's for highs today. tomorrow, a nice one, flurries in the mountains, otherwise partly sunny, highs again in the mid to maybe upper 40's. a system moves in wednesday night into thursday morning and could begin as mixed precipitation and could go over to a hard driving rain and windy situation by josh: you can see on the shot we showed the grassy areas were coated, but the roads had melted off and we're in pretty good shape. that's a good synopsis of a lot of places. some areas got a coating and manchester, three and a half inches so your results, obviously, can vary. there is your temperatures, in the 30's to near 40 in some parts of southern new hampshire. a look at the snow and in some cases now changing to rain showers rolling through the state overnight and the next batch around a couple of hours and central and southern new hampshire begins to clear out and we turn partly sunny with clouds and breaks of sunshine and mild conditions in the upper and lower 50's. and scattered rain and snow showers and mixed showers will continue at times through the day on and off again. we'll talk about the milder temperatures and when they last storm occurs as we check out your week ahead forecast. amy: we begin this morning with incredible video that you'll see only here on news 9 capturing the very first moments that first responders plucked a woman from the water in manchester. she's recovering in a hospital and rescuers say she could not survive much longer in that water. wmur's jean mackin brings the rescue and the story. >> it was a desperate race against time to reach a woman washing down the merrimack river. >> right there. right there. >> the first challenge spot her in the frigid fast-moving water and you can hear rescuers urge her to grab hold of a robe. firefighters grabbed a ladder for her to hold onto for the rescuers to arrive. >> she was dressed in dark the water is dark and we're looking for something that is bouncing in the waves. can make it quite difficult. she lost her grip floating away from first responders and reached out and grabbed the wall and that's when the boat came to the rescue with no time to spare. >> firefighters pulled her to safety and sped away. >> you end up losing the ladder and her. fortunately by that time the boat made it up here and probably had another two minutes and she's hypo thermic and probably wouldn't be able to hold on much longer. >> they went into a warm ambulance and firefighters and paramedics say they worked as a team to pull off the rescue, year long. >> we do, but the real thing is like. >> proud of your guys? >> very proud. >> jean mackin, wmur news 9. as of last night officials say it wasn't clear if that woman jumped into the water or fell. and it's been a busy night for first responders in the queen city in the continued fight against the heroin crisis. in the span of 30 minutes, american response or amr responded to four overdoses between 5:15 or 5:45. they were using heroin or spice, a form of marijuana. governor hassan, along with state leaders around the country are gathering in washington d.c. for the national governor's association winter meeting. governor hassan along with massachusetts governor charlie baker will address the opioid crisis during a health and human services meeting today. and kelly ayotte is asking for forces and investigations. funds were recently diverted to cover budget shortfalls. now ayotte wants those released back to local law enforcement. >> we want to make sure that our law enforcement have the resources they need to go after the drug dealers and keep the heroin off the streets and work together to get help for those struggling with addiction, that's critical as well. we shouldn't be taking these from law enforcement. >> and hundreds of thousands of dollars in local drug seizure proceeds have been put on hold and frozen until had the federal government decides how best to fund the drug forfeiture. >> norro virus in a school and the head master says it's a it can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. hhs says they see between 70 and 100 outbreaks a year. >> the best way to prevent the outbreaks, people who are ill stay home while they're not feeling well. that prevents introduction into the facility as well. and practice good hand washing and staying home if you're not feeling well. health ap human services say that 500 were sickened in those incidents alone. >> and votes for the primary will be minutes. the u.s.-led air strikes against libya. two serbian embassy staffers who had been held hostage in libya since november killed in the air strikes, including an islamic state training camp and an extremist leader, this comes after president obama directed his national security team to bolster terror efforts in libya. over 40 people were killed in the air strikes. well, the justice department is fighting back after apple refused to help unlock a phone used by one of the gunman in the san bernardino attack. in a new motion, the prosecutor says a company is not following the order. apple could keep the phone and technology. they want access to the data. apple has until next friday to respond. this morning, the water crisis continues in flint, michigan. federal regulators say state and city officials still are not doing enough to fix problems that cause lead contamination in the drinking water there. epa officials say the city does personnel to ensure the water system meets federal requirements on preventing lead pollution and they also say city and state need to develop a comprehensive plan for limiting corrosion to the pipes. apparently ellen degeneres started a go fund me page for flint, michigan. josh: at least they're starting to make progress there. amy: shame on the leaders though, seriously. josh: you know what? we've got water problems of our own, but with your storm watch 9 forecast. josh: it's a saturday morning with a wintery mix out there with some rain and snow in certain parts of the state and we've all seen a little bit of everything for the most part. here is warner with fresh white on the ground and mixing, 36 degrees there and 30's all throughout the state. even places like whitefield at 37 degrees, 39 in portsmouth. 38 in manchester and 37 in keene. these are all well above average. in fact, these temperatures are a little above the average high for the day. on average concord tops off at 36 and bottoms out at 15. around for sure and we'll continue to see the temperatures rise throughout the day today. we've seen snow that rolled through southern new hampshire overnight and the last batch is more rain than the previous run so you may have some snow on the ground from the overnight and some of it melting away due to the temperatures and the rain falling and you can see the mixed showers, a closer look in southern new hampshire where it's snow as you head farther west and here, raindrops mixing in, some of it elevation dependent. and central parts seeing some mixing where you pick up one to three inches overnight and northern new hampshire more of the same and this is largely remaining snow for now and later on today, even here, we'll see any showers in the north country will mix with rain or snow at times and scattered in northern new hampshire and the rest of the state turns partly sunny through the day today as this moves in, this clearing, as the front, the warm front that's away and brings in, well, warm fronts are named for the warm air they bring in. and it's a weekend warm-up and then we schooldown as we head into the upcoming week. no major storms in the immediate horizon. the jetstream is flat. when it's bumpy you see the big ups and downs and that's when storms and big arctic outbreaks and surges of air move when the jetstream is curved and bumpy and it's flat, meaning not a whole lot to worry about once the warm front rolls through in terms of precipitation through the next several days. the exception being the mountain and that's mountain induced snow and rain showers later on today that you'll see at times. the rest of the state partly sunny skies. for tonight, partly cloudy with flurries in the mountains and flurries continue in northern new hampshire tomorrow. meanwhile, the rest of the state will be partly sunny, a look at the temperatures, look where they head as we head up into the lower 40's and 50's later this afternoon. similar tomorrow, a couple of degrees cooler, but more sunshine will be around all day. a look at what to expect this weekend. mild conditions and snow showers and rain showers coming to an end this morning, but continuing at times in the says they're having a good season. multiple fire departments are on the scene of a fire that started around 3:00 this morning. no one has been injured. voters in south carolina will make their voices heard today on democratic side. sanders and clinton are neck and neck in nevada and while donald trump is leading ted cruz by five points in south carolina. we'll get to the stories and more. and check in with josh judge in hi, josh. josh: it's a saturday and we're starting off with mixed rain and snow showers out there. even if it's raining where you are right now. it likely would snow and temperatures have been rising overnight as a warm front rolls through the region. the temperatures are mid and upper 30's. near 40 degrees in some spots and including parts of northern new hampshire. a look at several waves of snow mixed showers right now. central has changed entirely to raindrops. farther west, better chance that you have it's in the snow precipitation form. totals overnight. conway with four inches, madison three and a half, two in laconia, one and a half in northfield there. your snow showers changing over to mixed showers in northern new hampshire today and coming to an end in central and southern new hampshire as we turn partly sunny and mild. 42 to as much as 50 degrees today. we'll talk about how long this mild weather sticks around as we look at the rest of the weekend forecast and into the week ahead coming up. >> want to get right to details on a story we first brought you at 11:00. and northbound 89 is back open after multiple crashes closed the area for several hours. the roads became snow covered. no one was seriously injured, but the highway from exit 15 to while crews cleaned up. ski mountains are hoping for a boost while schools are on vacation. it was a snow start to the season and without the fresh powder we enjoyed last winter, many are making snow. mike cronin shows you how things are going this year at gunstock. >> by day and night the slopes at gunstock mountain are busy this time of year and it's hard to believe, but already, a little more than a month to go of the ski season. skiers strap in at gunstock mountain for some fun under the lights. >> it's really awesome. we went night skiing and it's cool because it's the first time doing it here. >> my face was really cold, but it was fun. >> i always like to stay out late during this and it looks better at night. >> 24 trails are open at night and 44 during the day. about a half dozen fewer than at this time last year. aside from the slopes, there are six lanes of tubing. fast are when you're actually on it. >> and for the more adventurous, an air bag launch ramp. >> thank you. >> with massachusetts school vacation ending and new hampshire's beginning, the timing makes a difference. >> this is a great week for us. it's actually as strong right now as last year. this week. mike: jake jacobson says the mountain had a quiet start to the season. >> it was a tough start we were missing the natural snow. mike: after making snow, business rebounded and gunstock cut back on using snow guns. >> we're hoping to snow will brighten things up again. one thing that snow is missing is in the marketplace, boston needs to know we've got it. mike: skiing will end the first week in april, even though mother nature hasn't dropped as much snow as many would like, many are not ready to hang up their gear for the winter. had, but we're making the most of it. >> they're making the snow, but it's fun to see on. mike: despite the lack of fresh snow, some skiers have skied as much or more than last year. mike cronin, in gilbert, news 9. amy: if you're planning on going to cannon mountain, the tram will likely be closed all weekend after it broke down last sunday. passengers in two trams had to rappel to the ground after the car became stuck. repairs are underway. when the cannon mountain tram reopens, that will be announced right on their website. if you're going skiing this weekend, you can look at the app, free for android devices. the fbi doubled its reward for a serial bank robber, dubbed the incognito bandit. since last september he robbed to show employees he is carrying a gun. >> he enters the bank, displays a weapon immediately and threatens the tellers and he started to put the weapon on the table in front of them and banging on the table and letting them know it's there. amy: the incognito bandit wears socks over his boots, possibly as a way to cover up boot prints. if you have any information, of course, please call police. and happening right now, a massive fire burning in fall river, massachusetts. the fire started at sagamore mill around 3:00 this morning. multiple fire departments are at the scene. the building collapsed shortly after crews arrived. no one has been injured. we're following the situation in fall river. we will bring you updates as they come into our news room. the man accused of sparking an order is in custody. the man from framingham attacked witnesses reported seeing a gun, prompting a campus-wide alert. this morning, a second suspect is on the run. two more arrests in laconia netted weapons as well. nathan borroughs and christian mckim are charged with possession with intent to distribute, inside the home police found heroin and pills. a machete and a realistic looking bb pistol. a threat against sanborn high school. police say a senior made a threat against the pep rally, and parents were given the option of keeping their children home. two extra members of the police department were at the school during the rally and the case is closed in exeter where the perceived threat was made. is the balance between freedom of speech and whether people were placed in, you know, imminent fear and so that's what we investigated and we have found that we will not have any criminal charges on our end. since the investigation is still active, the young man's name and the exact threat are not being released at this time. the chief says the nature of the threat did prompt the fbi to briefly get involved. the portsmouth police department has a new way for citizens to connect with officers. they're bringing back police officer trading cards for the first time since 1996. 28 officers had their own personalized card. the sergeant says as long as officers aren't busy responding to a call anyone can come up and get a trading card. >> what makes that officer, a biography who that is and gives the kids in the community a officers are and what we're doing for them in the community. >> portsmouth students can program. once they collect the set they can attend a bi-weekly check-in where they can get a prize and be entered for a grand prize. remembering the life of former keene mayor patricia russell. governor maggie hassan says that pat russell exemplifies the spirit of our area and serving others. the state project reached its goals of 20,000 libertarians to pledge to move to new hampshire. 2000 members have moved to the state and the retaining 18,000 to come here within five years. they're holding the liberty forum in manchester. >> we're just saying, you know, move here your storm watch 9 forecast. josh: as we start up this saturday morning. a fresh coating of snow, and as well we start off at weir's beach where the temperature is in the 30's and tell you what, it certainly has turned into a cloudy start with some scattered showers, but mild. the temperatures in the mid 30's and the lakes region, upper 30's and even in parts of northern nm new hampshire in the mid 30's as well. temperatures in concord headed afternoon and check that out. wow, near 50 degrees in some spots. meanwhile, we did have some snowfall. here is more. we showed you some totals a little while ago and a few more, ashland checking in with a little over two inches of snow. close to two inches of snow, reports in the lakes region of anywhere between one and a half and two and a half inches of snow and lesser amounts farther south as well. in southern and central new hampshire the snow showers rolling through overnight have changed into mixed showers and mostly going over to rain now, but also almost done. the back edge is now pulling through and most of these showers should be done, i think, by about 9:00. we should see them be done in central and southern new hampshire. here is central parts of the state it was snow, snow, snow, and we're seeing mixing going on here as well. farther north, so far, remaining all or mostly all snow and continuing to snow at this moment. this is where we've seen the several inches have fallen and even in northern new hampshire we could see raindrops mixing in at times through the day today, but not steady, but scattered showers at times. off to to our west though, breaks in the overcast and that will be later today into central and southern parts of the state. and milder air streaming up, a decent day out there today and tomorrow as well. bolt days this weekend, actually not looking too bad. that kind of goes against what you're looking at here on doppler radar, the exception being northern new hampshire in the mountains and you'll see the snow showers come to an end. but then the chance of lightly scattered mixed showers of rain and/or snow. meanwhile, the rest of the state seeing some sunshine, maybe a brief shower later today. tonight, partly cloudy to cloudy, and some flurries to the north and that's pretty much the temperatures tomorrow. a couple of ticks not too far, and monday, it cools off. as the cool front rolls in, but the temperatures will be back to more seasonable levels, down into the 30's. for today, check it out. 40's, even in northern new hampshire and upper 40's to near or above 50 degrees in some southern parts of the state. tonight, again, another above average temperature night and for tomorrow, there's a look at your temperatures. as i mentioned, a little bit cooler, but still, well above average and a pretty nice weekend overall. as we head into the upcoming week, it gets cooler monday and tuesday, but dry and we're watching our next big, rather organized weather system moving in, it looks like wednesday night into thursday. it could start out as mixed precipitation and go over to rain, but that's six days out so we'll have to watch that carefully. right now and joins us in the weather center with a look at the rest of our forecast. >> yeah, we had snow overnight in southern new hampshire. amounted to a dusting, in a lot of places melted away because of the warm temperatures you're seeing, but central and southern new hampshire a little more, from with unto two inches in central new hampshire and more new hampshire, but varies from place to place. we're looking at the doppler radar, the latest batch or round of snow rolling through has changed over to rain in southern and parts of central new hampshire, but not quite northern new hampshire just yet. all right, let's take a look at how much has fallen. these are some of the reports, three or four inches, 2.5 in lancaster. we've seen higher amounts in eastern parts of central new hampshire. and the mixed rain and snow showers coming to an end in the next hour or two, except for northern new hampshire we'll continue at times throughout the day and into tonight, but the rest of us will see partly sunny skies developing. mild temperatures for today, another mild weekend in store. we'll talk more about that and how long that lasts in your full forecast. >> we begin this morning with incredible video of a rescue you'll see only here on news 9 capturing the moments first her 20's from the frigid water of the merrimack river arms park at manchester. rescuers received a 911 call. this they have yet to confirm whether she jumped or fell into the river. rescuers said she could not have survived much longer in the water. jean mackin witnessed the rescue and brings us the story. >> where is she? >> it was a desperate race against time to reach a woman washing down the merrimack river. >> do you see her? >> right there, right there. >> the first challenge, spot her in the frigid fast moving water. you can hear rescuers urge her to grab hold of a rope. >> take a rope! >> firefighters lowered ropes and a ladder for her to hold onto, buying an extra minute for the rescue boat to arrive. >> she was dressed in dark clothes. the water is dark and it's we're looking for something bouncing in the waves can make it quite difficult. >> she lost her grip once, responders. >> she reached out and grabbed the wall and that's when the boat came to the rescue with no time to spare. >> firefighters pulled her to safety and sped away. >> we end up losing the ladder and her, fortunately, by that time the boat made it up here and we picked her up at the stairs. she's hypothermic now and longer. >> they took her to a warm ambulance. firefighters and paramedics and officers worked as a team to pull off the rescue, something they train for all year long. >> yeah, we do, but it's-- the real thing is a little more dramatic than we'd like. >> very proud. >> first responders tell us before they left the rescue scene here at arms park. hospital to have specialized warming equipment ready for the woman. one veteran firefighter says he's seen it all and calls this rescue dramatic. in manchester, jean mackin, wmur news 9. >> it was a busy night for first responders in the queen city. in the span of just 30 minutes, american medical response or amr says that the crews responded to four overdoses friday afternoon between 5:15 and 5:45. patients were using either heroin or spice, a synthetic form of marijuana. that high volume of calls in a short span is unusual. governor hassan and others are gathering for the winter meeting. they will address the nation's opioid crisis during a health meaning today. meantime, senator kelly ayotte is asking to allocate more, to fund local task forces and investigations were recently diverted to cover budget shortfalls. now air ayotte wants them released back to local law enforcement. >> we want to make sure that our local law enforcement have the reenforcements they need to keep dealers off the streets and help those struggling with addiction. we shouldn't take these resources away from law enforcement. amy: hundreds of thousands of dollars have been put on hold until the government decides how to best address the program. cleaning and sanitizing at a concord school, christian the over em wh -- overwhelming amount phone used by one of the gunman in the san bernardino attack. in a new motion, federal not following the judge's order. prosecutors said apple could keep the phone and technology, but they want access to its data. apple has until next friday to respond. this morning, the water crisis continues in flint, michigan. federal regulators say state and city officials still are not doing enough to fix the problems that caused lead contamination in the drinking water. epa officials say the city does not have enough qualified personnel to ensure the city's water system meets federal requirements on free venting lead pollution and the city and state need to develop a comprehensive plan for limiting corrosion on pipes. we mentioned last hour, ellen degeneres has a go fund me page. those city leaders team and the >> now, meteorologist josh judge with your storm watch 9 forecast. josh: we're waking up on a saturday morning to variable conditions, some of us seeing several inches of fresh snow, like here in the north country. and a half, three inches of new snow. it's up to 36 degrees now and the temperatures have been pretty mild for this time of year. and that's because a warm front rolled through overnight and that's what actually brought us the snow. it snowed so that it could warm up, so to speak. >> 40 degrees in portsmouth. meredith 1.8 and laconia for two. and tamworth reporting four inches as is stark and other places in northern new hampshire. we've seen conway with about four inches of snow. strafford, chichester. here is a look at cole brook, look at this, look at the course covered in snow, snowing like crazy in some locations and we'll show you where here with the doppler radar. now it's mostly turning over to rain everywhere except northern new hampshire. so in the southern part of the state, it was snow, but look at it change over to rain and it's so you're going to find some wet roadways in southern new hampshire from a little bit of snow that fell and warmer temperatures and rain has been melting some of them. it states no longer, but it's been changing over there as well and almost done as well. by 9:00. most of us are done with the precipitation and the exception being northern new hampshire where the current batch of snow is pulling away, but more mixed showers will likely move into these areas a little later. this is the heaviest snow right now and that's where they're at four inches or more. and this area in southern canada will pivot down and move over northern new hampshire. the rest of us will see cloudy skies and partly sunny breaks throughout as this clearing moves in. partly sunny and stays mild as a milder air mass is pushing in. take a look at futurecast, show you the precipitation pulling away everywhere except for northern new hampshire and mixed rain and snow depending on your location. the rest of the state largely dry, maybe an isolated shower this afternoon in southern new hampshire and that's about it. mild conditions, partly cloudy tonight with some flurries in the mountains. and they could continue in the mountains as well. otherwise we turn sunny pretty good couple of days out there. for today we're going to see the temperatures reaching into the 40's and lower 50's a possibility in southern new hampshire with enough sunshine breaking through. meanwhile, lower 40's to mid 40's in northern new hampshire, another mild night tonight leads to another mild day tomorrow. sunday temperatures again in the 40's with partly sunny skies and just a few flurries this time around in the mountains. it will be clearer, but colder on monday and tuesday and then wednesday into thursday, that's our next large scale storm system that we'll be watching. right now, it looks like a wintery mix going over to rain, but again, six days away, we'll be watching. >> we'll put it on your to-do list. amy: it's no secret that the portsmouth girl's basketball team are really good, undefeated this season. josh: it's 8:30, i'm amy coveno. we begin with a live look at the big lake. a few houses out there this hour, a look at the top stories. boost as school vacation kicks off. despite the lack of snow. gunstock mountain says they're having a good season. right now departments are on the scene of a mill fire that started around 3:00 this morning. no one has been injured. voters in south carolina and nevada will make their voices heard today. on the democratic side, sanders and clinton are neck and neck and donald trump is leading ted cruz by five points. we'll get to the stories and more in a few minutes. first, let's check with josh judge with a look at the forecast. hi, josh. >> we're waking up to fresh snow in some parts of the state. other areas in southern new hampshire like here in goffstown, the warmer interprets and change over to rain has all, but washed away many areas that had seen a coating to maybe about a half inch or a quarter inch of snow overnight. there's northern new hampshire, even wildfield at 36 degrees, 37 in lebanon. and thele changeover has moved into even parts of central new hampshire as well. coming to an end and will be done by right around 9:00 most places, although they may linger longer in the mountains and that's where the snow has been and northern new hampshire has seen between two and four inches overnight. lesser amounts, as you head farther south. we'll talk how long this milder air sticks around and when our next large scale system could be here. >> we begin this half hour with new details on a story we first brought you at 11:00. northbound 89 is back open this morning after multiple crashes closed the area last night. this started at 10:30 when the roads became snow covered. one of the vehicles involved was an ambulance that was hit by a car. there were minor injuries reported and victims were taken to dartmouth. the highway from 15 to the vermont border was closed while and hoping for a boost while the students are op vacation. many resorts have been making their own snow. wmur's mike cronin shows how things are going at gunstock. mike: by day and night the mountains at gunstock are busy with little more than a month left to go for the ski season. skiers strap in for under the lights. >> it was cool, the first time doing it here. >> my face is really cold, but it was fun. >> i always like to stay skiers have skied as much or even more than last year. in gilford, mike cronin, wmur news 9. amy: if you're planning on going to cannon mountain, the tram will likely be closed all weekend after it break down last sunday. passengers in two trams had to rappel to the ground when the cars became stuck. a spokesperson for cannon mountain says the repairs are underway when the cannon mountain tram temperatures are starting off this morning in the mid and even 40 degrees in portsmouth right now and we're headed upwards especially later today when we get some sunshine here that will help spike those temperatures up close to or even higher than 50 degrees in a few spots. the almanac shows normal high temperatures of only 36 degrees and that's where we were in the lakes region right now, we're already above that in concord where that normal temperature is for. concord's temperatures should make it up this afternoon as i mentioned to near 50 degrees. some snowfall totals for you here, an updated lancaster total, we're now up to five inches in some reports, southeastern lancaster, stark, tamworth four inches. central new hampshire, places around the lakes region, one-- upper ones, one and a half to two inches of snow most places we're getting reports here. and inch in chichester as well. in manchester, this is a live there was a coating. as i mentioned most has melted away and rain as well. the showers coming to an end and if they haven't where you are mixed showers in the mountain, rain and snow at times and mountains and points north through the day today. more of a lull and goes back to snow flurries later. and a big system later in the week, probably late against night into thursday, taking a look at the snow showers as they rolled through that start today mix over to rain in southern new hampshire as i mentioned, watch, coming to an end, left over drizzle. central new hampshire about two inches as i've been mentioning. away, eastern parts like 0s ossipee and that will be here in another 45 minutes or so and a bit after break before this area of precipitation pivots, and then this area of breaks in the clouds with warmer conditions following in, meaning we'll see partly sunny skies south of the mountains as we go through the day today, especially later on today. there's a look at some of the rain showers that could mix in in parts of northern new hampshire and even there the temperatures make it up to the lower 40's. here is your extended forecast, mild and a cold front sunday night, brings it cooler monday and tuesday, as i mentioned a few minutes ago, wednesday and thursday, we may see a wintery mix and perhaps a hard driving windy rain, but it's six days away. so-- >> we might start to see daffodils poking up here soon. >> we'll see,
