We see a little bit of sun during the Early Morning hours but then some rain arrives later in the afternoon and gets a damp for the evening commute. Be careful. Temperatures are fairly close to the freezing mark across much of the region. We had more melting snow yesterday and that could lead to some icy patches on sidewalks this morning and maybe side streets. In fact thats one thing ill tell you about walking to the bus. Were going to have lots of clouds and maybe some of those icy patches on sidewalks so be careful kids and those of you headed to the bus stop for work or the el station. 42 degrees by 9 oclock. Then by noon, were up to 48. No icing after that. 53 degrees then by 3 oclock. That will be your high. And during the afternoon well have some light to moderate rain building in, periods of it off and on. We also have an ozone action day declared for sensitive groups. Want you to limit your Outdoor Activity which will be easier to do once the rain starts later today. Theres stagnant air in place and theres the concern ground level pollution could be high for those of you in that risk group like seen sore citizens or if you suffer from asthma or other respiratory ailments. Matt give us the story on the roads. A couple flies in the ointment we might say day. We had an accident, first we were hearing a disabled truck now were hearing accident on 95 southbound side by the off ramp for highland avenue. Pretty much all confined to the shoulder at this point so not causing a delay. As you travel southbound from the blue route down toward the delaware state line. But theres also an accident involving an overturned truck and this one is blocking 401 conestoga road at Saint Matthews road by the united church. Maybe stay up on horseshoe trail to get around that blockage. Also still have that water main break in middletown township bucks county closing big oak road. Stay up on langhorne yardly road by maple point middle school. Into bucks county from Burlington County not getting by on the burlington bristol bridge. Its up for a southbound shipment for the they cant couple minutes head for the turnpike connector bridge. Gloucester township Camden County the black horse pike pike is closed at evesham road because of a crash and downed pole. Maybe use the white horse pike instead. Matt. Thanks matt. Investigators trying to figure out what a tractortrailer was doing on the tracks when an amtrak train slammed into it in north carolina. Some of the passengers were headed for philadelphia. Action News Reporter john rawlins is live at 30th street station and has reaction from some of those passengers. John. Reporter hi matt weve seen that remarkable video of the collision. Were now hearing from passengers who arrived here overnight at 30th street they described being tossed about in the midst of the collision. There were injuries but none were lifethreatening. It was pretty crazy. We were just riding along, i was sitting in the dining car and all of a sudden there was a huge jolt and people were thrown from the z the Woman Working behind the counter was thrown from her feet. Then we looked out the side of us and there were pieces of a tractortrailer around us. It was pretty incredible. Reporter incredible indeed. Penn grad student Andrew Hudson was aboard the amtrak train. The collision he described caught on video from the outside. The heavy locomotive slicing through the stopped oversized tractortrailer near halifax north carolina. More than 50 of the 213 people aboard were taken to hospitals. Others were put on buses to washington. Then a train to philadelphia where they arrived late last night. Garrett moore was aboard returning from a college reunion. He says there was no sense of panic in the car he was riding. Everybody was very calm and very helpful too. There was a guy there who spoke spanish and many people on the train who could not speak spanish. There was one guy who could speak spanish. And he was very helpful. Reporter well, sounds like a chaotic situation there but it was taken care of in a rather orderly manner according to passengers. A very long oversized truck that was involved here was apparently carrying a modular building at the time. An interesting point. It was under active transport or escort we should say by the police at the time. It could not navigate a very tight left turn. It got stuck on the tracks. Its not clear if the police were in communications with the railroad at the time of the accident. That will certainly be a question for investigators. Live at 30th street station john rawlins, channel6 action news. Back to you all. Thanks, john. You can follow any further developments on the story at 6abc. Com. Probably yeah, i could see rain moving into the western suburbs as soon as 2 or 3 oclock and in philadelphia by about maybe 3 oclock or 4 oclock. It will be a close call. Your Storm Tracker 6 live double scan image right now shows you that were dry for the morning side of your commute. As we take a look outside we have sky 6 looking at the ben franklin bridge. Everything aokay on i95 this morning. And dry and somewhat typically chilly. Got a couple of highlights to your forecast. The first is that rain that will be gradually moving in during the afternoon and evening. Then it gets out overnight and we wound up with a very mild wednesday. Youre going like the number ill show you in there seven day. For now were at 33 degrees in philadelphia. 28 in allentown, 30 in reading, 32 in trenton, 32 the freezing mark in wilmington, 29 in millville. Again, look out for that snow that may have melted onto some sidewalks and side streets refreezing up in in neighborhoods. Future tracker 6 shows you we have an increase in cloud cover this morning. There may be some early sunshine but by noon were probably looking fairly gray. Then during the afternoon hours perhaps 3, 4 oclock especially in those western suburbs over to about philadelphia there is that chance of rain moving in. And i would gear the kids with umbrellas no matter where you are across the region just in case they get caught in a shower on the way home. By the evening rush and beyond, were looking at steadier rain building in for a time and then overnight tonight just continues up through 11 oclock when adam is on the air at 10 oclock tonight on channel 17 and cecily here on 6abc theyll almost certainly have rain to show you on Storm Tracker 6 live double scan but look like the whole thing gets out of here overnight so that by time we all get up on wednesday morning were looking cloudy but probably drying out. Up in allentown todays high is 46 degrees. Similar to yesterday with some afternoon rain arriving, clouds increasing ahead of that during the day. Down the shore were also looking at an increase in cloud cover during the day and then that afternoon rain arriving 56 degrees is the forecast high there. And in philadelphia were going to go for a high of 53 degrees. Couple degrees above average again today but clouds will increase and well get that afternoon and evening rain building in. Winds light, four to 8 miles per hour. Thats about it. And as we roll through the day were going start at 38 at 8 oclock and then get up into the upper 40s by 11 00 and again like yesterday spending most of the afternoon in the 50s. The unfortunate thing is that we will have that rain eventually arriving especially afternoon and evening. Your sevenday from accuweather then shows the rain is gone tomorrow and boy do things get nice. Very mild, clouds will give way to some sunshine and how do you like a high of 63 degrees . Long time since weve been in the 60s. And then turning cooler again on thursday, 51 and back to 46 on friday with another round of late rain arriving that will probably spill into saturday morning. Now, saturday at this point looks kind of dreary. We may or may not see some late sunshine. Most of your rain probably centered in the morning and a saturday afternoon high of 50. Sunday still looks dry though and so does monday back into the 50s both those days. All right, thank you david. Its now 5 10. Next and new this morning a brawl breaks out at a chucky cheese. A couple things cooking in the suburbs, a couple bright lights guide our way in king of prussia along the ramps that connect 202 with 422 and i want to warn you again at the risk of sounding like a broken record about the refreeze from the overnight. Little snow banks like this melted yesterday. Some of that water may have seeped into the lanes here and refrozen overnight. You could find some slippery patches as a result. But here is the ramp to 422 westbound moving fine through king of prussia. We had lots of extra overnight construction on 422 westbound out around 100 out to stow. I think i would still avoid that and maybe use 724 instead although they should be out of there with the extra overnight work shortly.
