Yeah, weve got a concern for this morning. I want to get right to storm tracker6 live 3d. Were expecting a few showers this afternoon but a few early showers have broke out. We can see that now in central pennsylvania. The problem is you see the area of blue, theyre breaking outta time where we have temperatures below freezing. As we go in closer with storm tracker6 live double scan, this is happening out near harrisburg and gettysburg. Still not quite in our region. We had a little bit of drizzle earlier near reading. That has dissipated. What you see near trenton is ground clutter. The only precipitation is still out near harrisburg but the National Weather service has issued a freezing rain advisory for the northwest suburbs because of this light drizzle creating icy roads. You can expect that at any point. This is carbon, monroe, berks, lehigh and northampton counties until 10 oclock this morning. And that would be a big concern. We already have areas of black ice. Yesterday you had the melting. Now you have the refreeze. Look at these temperatures its 28 mount pocono, 17 reading, 28 in philadelphia. Now, farther to the south and east were actually above freezing. In dover, millville, Atlantic City and Sea Isle City at 40 degrees. Anybody walking out needs to be careful throughout the region just because of some slick spots on the roads and on the sidewalks. By 9 00 a. M. , 35 degrees. By 11 00 a. M. , 40. Were dry until the afternoon hours. After that little morning shower in the northwest. By 1 00 p. M. , 42. By 3 00 p. M. , 43. Thats when a few showers move into philadelphia. And at 6 00 p. M. , 39 afew showers especially in philadelphia and south and east. 43 for your high today. Youll be doing more of that melting and matt pelman more of the refreezing later on. Karen im with you. I share in your concerns for this mornings rush. So far were not offer to a great start with a lot of people slipping and sliding on those slippery patches that did refreeze overnight. And this truck overturned after it slid at the end of the ramp from route three, broomall upper darby, to the northbound lanes of the blue route, 476 here in delaware county. You can see a lot of emergency crews on the scene. Theyre partially blocking the ramp and blocking the right lane here on the northbound side of the blue route. So, as you come north of lima springfield expect delays as this accident remains out here. Chopper6 right now speeding its way toward the scene. Here on 95 youre speeding a little less quickly now in the southbound lanes. Delays just starting to form as you head toward cottman and again toward girard. Speeds have dropped into the 40s as we do expect volume to come back to 95 and the other highways this morning. Schuylkill some speeds dropped into the 40s as well but its not terrible. Lincoln drive is opened unlike most of the day yesterday but watch out for the slippery patches and our Fire Department activity in grad hospital has cleared out. On our good buddy ben, the ben franklin bridge, all opened this morning except those pedestrian foot ways. They are shut down. Otherwise traffic though and the vehicle on the ben is moving okay and we still have a water main break and some icy conditions, too, i believe in Hamilton Township Mercer County blocking a lane on 130 southbound past 195. Matt. Thank you, matt. Action News Reporter Annie Mccormick is live in a south philadelphia neighborhood that really would love to hear those plows coming. Annie. Reporter they would love to hear the sound of a front loader coming through here on daily street. Its a narrow street. They would probably need one of the small are bobcats to come through. Residents really going nowhere fast because the road is still piled up with snow. So even if they dug their cars out they still cant drive out on the street. Now, all this morning we have seen plows in and around this area of south philadelphia. Residents like the ones at 18th and daily are hoping to get plowed out soon. City plows working early this morning on south philadelphias streets, side streets like this one at 18th and dale are still hidden under piles of snow. From south philadelphia to mayfair, people are getting testy. I called the cops on them. They were standing out here with shovels getting ready to swing at each other. Reporter here in the 6600 block of erdrick in mayfair neighbors fought with one another over residents dicking out and saving spots with chairs and recycling bins. In the suburbs, its the same story. This apartment parking lot in devon still hasnt been cleared and customers at Shopping Centers like this plaza in audubon have to navigate mounds of snow. Back to philadelphia, across the city crews have worked nonstop to clear roadways. Many philadelphians are applauding the citys response, the mayor asking again for patience. We do that appreciate your patience. Were getting to your streets. We have to take care of the big ones first to get everything rolling and then tha that affects the mot number of people but we are coming or we were already there. Reporter and back out here live on 18th street in south philadelphia, you can see right there a city car of course is blocked off at 18th and wolf because theyre assisting those plows hoping to theyre able to cover a large area around here. Residents are hoping that. Now, mayor kenny said yesterday they hope to have all the streets plowed by wednesday. Of course if you have a street that has not been plowed they ask you to call 311. Reporting live in south philadelphia, Annie Mccormick, channel6 action news. All right, annie, thank you. The snow removal process has been slow going in the Lehigh Valley. Allentown schools will remain closed today. Lehigh and northampton transportation officials will decide this morning if they will resume service. Officials say they poured every single piece of snow removal equipment into the citys streets. Every single piece of equipment that we had in the Steve Allentown that could pick up a piece of snow was on the street picking up a piece of snow. The city has hired private contractors and requested more equipment from the state. Residents can park their cars for free at the Community Deck at sixth and walnut streets and the Allentown School district is opening its parking lots to residents in an effort to help the city clear snow filled streets faster. Air travelers stranded by record breaking snow along the east coast will soon be home or wherever theyre heading. This is a live look at Philadelphia International airport where things continue to get up to speed. Snow removal crews spent the day clearing the run ways of more than 22inches of snow. Full service is expected by tomorrow. It looks like investors are still looking for the bottom with this massive stock slide of 2016. Maribel aber is checking the futures market and joins us live at the nasdaq in times square. Hi maribel. Reporter hi matt. Late session fell off rattled investors and pushed stocks sharply lower on monday. Futures pointing to a lower open. Reports on home prices and new home sales due out today. Sales at mcdonalds though are soaring thanks to allday breakfast. Mcdonalds sales in the u. S. Jumped 5. 7 percent last quarter. That helped the chain easily top wall street expectations for earnings and revenues. They got to be loving that. Investors along with customers have returned to mcdonalds. The stock hit an all time high during yesterday its trading. Almost half of all u. S. Households now have an amazon prime membership. Report from Intelligence Research partners estimated that there were 54 million prime members in the u. S. At the end of last year. Thats about 20 percent of the adult population. Amazon didnt confirm the numbers but the company says it doesnt disclose prime membership numbers. Prime members spent about 1,100 a year at amazon more than double what nonprime members spend according to that report. But you know what, matt and erin, if you find yourself buying on amazon frequently then the numbers kind of make sense. They do. Im a member. You guys members of amazon prime. Im not. Thats sort of well, thats 66 percent here. That makes sense. Lets take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan around the region. Were dry in philadelphia. The concern were watching for the morning, that little area of blue out to the west. With double scan weve got our best technology to show you exactly where this is happening. Its still out near gettysburg and harrisburg but you can see it progressing to the north and east. Now, earlier we had a touch of drizzle near reading. Thats dissipated. What youre seeing over here near our radar site, thats just ground clutter so this is the one area of some freezing drizzle. Thats a real concern and thats why the National Weather service has issued this freezing rain advisory for the northwest suburbs. Carbon, monroe, berks, lehigh, northampton until 10 oclock this morning. Its that light drizzle that could create icy roads and of course the roads are already icy. Lets go on outside. We want to see what it looks like right now. Sky6 is looking live over the ben franklin bridge. We do have lots of clouds and we are seeing right now that some of that black ice has reformed on area roads so you need to be careful as youre stepping out today. Satellite6 and action radar showing the clouds have moved in and there you can see the precipitation that kind of jumped out ahead of the rest of the area of low pressure that is moving through. So, we see this little bit of blue through central pennsylvania and were watching this progress through our region and parts of our area could see a little bit of freezing drizzle. So, future tracker6 timing this out at 8 30 this morning, it looks like it hits from lancaster reading out towards mount pocono. So, watching it from any time from now until 10 oclock in the morning, that we could see a little bit of freezing drizzle. Its not a lot of precipitation as you look at this, its just a few showers that sneak through but enough that it could make it icy. We progress this and you see it just dissipate. The bulk of the showers and its not a lot of rain comes through later this afternoon. This is a look at 3 30 in the afternoon. We see some of those showers sneaking in when temperatures are above freezing and then this model showing more pronounced showers coming through later this evening but again at that point even through this Area Temperatures above freezing so my only concern is for the Morning Hours out in the northwest suburbs. Lets look at what you can expect today. By 8 00 a. M. , 29 degrees. And thats when we could be getting some freezing drizzle to the northwest. By 10 00 a. M. , were dry, 38 degrees. By noon, were up to 41. We get lots of melting again today. By 3 00 p. M. , 43 degrees with some showers moving through and maybe a few more pronounced showers at 5 00 p. M. , 41. Heres a look at your exclusive accuweather sevenday forecast. We have a lot happening. We have melting and refreezing again and this morning in the Lehigh Valley we could see a little bit of freezing drizzle. Cloudy skies otherwise with some showers coming through later this afternoon and 43. Tomorrow were dry, clouds give way to some sunshine, its still 42 degrees. Temperatures above freezing. Thursday partly sunny skies with High Pressure right overhead it gets kind of chilly, 37. By friday were watching the coast. Weve been watching a storm system at this point all the models suggesting its off the coast and not impacting us. So, something were watching closely nonetheless. The last thing you want near the shore is another storm coming. Saturday partly sunny skies and 40 degrees. Sunday some late showers and 47. Certainly mild for the weekend. How about monday . Even milder, getting close to 50, 49 degrees with clouds and sunshine and some maybe early showers. So, this morning we have areas of black ice and a little freezing drizzle to watch north and west. Will do. Thanks karen. 6 11. Up next more stories you didnt see last night including the dangerous distraction for pilots spotted on approach to la guardia airport. Health officials warn a virus that may cause birth defects is likely coming to the u. S. Matt. Youre taking a live look through sky6 and the Temple University camera. Pretty shot of center city. We have a light flickering there. Hopefully the sun will be out later to help melt away all that snow. Highs in the 40s today. Yeah, it will. All right, matt, what you got there in the cam . In the words of late great glenn frey take it easy as youre heading out this morning. It really is slippery in a lot of spots and weve already had a bunch of accidents including this bad one on the blue route, 476. Northbound side right at the and of the ramp from route three. Thats the broomall upper darby change. Little tough to make out but a box truck right here overturned just about a half hour ago or so. So not only is the onramp partially blocked but youre also without the right lane or you have been at times there on the northbound side. Most of the time its just that left lane thats squeezing by coming northbound. So, as we pull in the commuter report people are talking about this accident near broomall on the northbound side. Were watching really slow speeds already. I would start to think alternates to the northbound side of the blue route which could include 320 very locally or 252 but as you get on more of those suburban routes youre going to find even more slushiness, slipperiness, iciness so you really do have to drop the speeds and as i keep saying, i know i sound like a broken record but allow extra time as you head out this morning. Also watching a crash on the ramp from royersford to the eastbound side of 422. You can squeeze by that. No big delays at this point in the main lanes. Meanwhile in north wales this is the scene along upper state road at horsham road and you can see especially as you go to make the turn there, definitely an icy patch. The main lanes are drying out, maybe a little bit wet still but as you watch you got to watch as you make the turns because there are still some slick patches out there. In jenkintown we had a crash early this morning along township line road at old york road. Watching two water main breaks one in jenkintown along walnut street the other in Hamilton Township Mercer County along the southbound side of 130 near 195. The right lane is blocked and i would expect icy conditions as well. Matt. Thanks matt. New on action news the faa says someone way laser pointer targeted a plane approaching la guardia airport. Overturned box truck that were watching at the end of the ramp from route three west chester pike to the northbound side of 476 still has the onramp and the right lane partially blocked. Just one lane getting by so already were seeing delays this morning as you come north of lima springfield on the blue route. Crash we have been talking about on the ramp from royersford to 422 eastbound has cleared but yes, especially on those ramps it is very slippery this morning. We could look right now on storm tracker6 live double scan, its now moving through gettysburg and harrisburg, slowly lifting to the north and east but well shortly within a couple hours be near lancaster reading and allentown. The National Weather service has issued a freezing rain advisory before that nor reason and thats what were following right now. I want to take a look at future tracker6 and at 6 oclock in the morning not a lot happening. We advance this, the latest models showing just a touch of freezing rain out near lancaster near reading. Got to watch out for areas of black ice but in addition to that were concerned about some freezing drizzle if our northwest suburbs i want to show you storm tracker6 live 3d and you can see right now that area of blue moving through central pennsylvania and towards our area and so were watching for the potential for some freezing drizzle with that and were seeing it currently in harrisburg up near sellers grove, not quite in pottsville or lays sell ton yet but you see the progression moving to the north and east. The National Weather service has issued a freezing rain advisory until 10 oclock this morning and thats for carbon, monroe, berks, northampton, lehigh counties and thats because of a brief area of drizzle thats creating icy roads. So, you need to watch for that as youre headed out. The rest of us still need to deal with areas of black ice from all the melting and refreezing overnight because those temperatures are below freezing most everywhere north and west of philadelphia. Were seeing 21 in trenton right along the the i95 corridor its an issue, 28 in philadelphia, 22 in wilmington, only 17 reading, 14 in allentown. Now, if youre in south jersey and delaware, those are the areas that youre above freezing right now. 36 in millville, 39 in dover, 40 in Sea Isle City so less of a concern of the icy patches there. Heres what you can expect through the morning. At any time until 10 oclock were watching especially for the northwest any bit of freezing drizzle so by 9 00 a. M. , 35 degrees in the city. At 11 00 a. M. , its 40 degrees. Were dry with lots of clouds. By 1 00 p. M. , 42. By 3 00 p. M. , 43. Thats our high for today. So well see lots of melting once again with that snow thats going to take awhile to melt it although. By 6 00 p. M. , 39 degrees so watching for some slick areas and i know matt, the roads have been busy already. Oh, yeah, karen, were being treated to another hair graying sort of morning commute. Good morning to you. Good morning, everybody. A truck flipped over here in broomall delco. You see the truck its a box truck. Like maybe a delivery truck on its side. Its here at the end of the ramp from route three west chester pike to the northbound lanes of 476 the blue route. Chopper 6hd just arrived on the scene. There you see penndot out there as well. Police officers also. Theyre partially blocking the onramp from route three to go north. Theyre also blocking the right lane and the main lane. Look at all the snow on the top of that truck that flipped over kind of into the snow bank on the side of the road. Have a feeling he was coming down the ramp and just hit a slick patch and lost control. Lets go to our next camera shot. You can see the delay that has formed on the northbound side of 476. Its a standstill coming north of the route one media bypass on up to route three west chester pike. At this point with that travel time being almost double what it should be, i would really avoid it and head for maybe 320 or 252 but watch out for the slick spots on those roadways as well. This is 95. No accidents here but the volume is back this morning. Southbound definitely backing up headed toward cottman and then slowing again from allegheny into girard. Were watching a pair of water main breaks, one is in jenkintown along walnut street at greenwood avenue. The other in Hamilton Township Mercer County, southbound side of 130 past 195. The right lane is out of commission. And in delaware no major traffic troubles reported at this point but dart bus routes seven, eight and 10 remain suspended all because of that blizzard a few days ago. Matt. Thanks, matt. So the great blizzard digout continues. Plenty of smaller streets around philadelphia are still covered in snow. Action News Reporter Annie Mccormick is live at one of those places in south philadelphia. Are the plows on their way yet, annie . Reporter we hear them, matt. I have seen them this morning. Theyve been working all morning but they havent hit this street yet at 18th and daily. This is one of those really narrow street that is going to need a bobcat to come through here. Were told the mayor wants to have all of this done by wednesday. City plows working early this morning on south philadelphias streets. Many of the side streets here are still hidden under piles of snow. From south philadelphia to mayfair, people are anxious. Here in the 6600 block of erdrick in mayfair neighbors fought with one another over residents digging out and saving spots with chairs and recycling bins. Why are neighbors fighting with each other. No injuries were reported. Governor Chris Christie is in a war of words over his response to this weekends flooding at the jersey shore. Action News Reporter Katherine Scott has the full story for us live from the satellite center. Good morning, katherine. Good morning, erin and this all started with a question at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire. A student who has friends in new jersey asked the governor why he was in New Hampshire campaigning and not in new jersey cleaning up after the storm. Well, christie took exception to that question and in the process referred to a south jersey mayor as crazy. Um, i dont know specifically what you expect me to do you want me to go down there with a mop. With that governor christie shot down a town hall question as to why flaw New Hampshire and not back in his home state cleaning up. Lieutenant governor was in holgate yesterday assessing damage and christie says the government is working to assist Business Owners in applying for loans and grants. The fact is that we had all the roads cleared. We had 92 new jerse new jersey k up. For the people that did sustain flooding we had folks on the ground to evacuate them if they needed to be evacuated. No one needed to be evacuated. But officials in Cape May County say otherwise. Patrick rosenello the mayor of North Wildwood said 150 people were safely rescued from their flooded homes. I heard one crazy mayor down in south jersey say this is the worst flooding than sandy. Heres the one thing you need to know about that mayor. His town didnt get hit by sandy. Reporter before christie made those comments action news talked with rosenello about the damage. From a statewide perspective this storm certainly did not have the impact of hurricane sandy. It wasnt even close and i recognize that. Locally again in a very localized area it appears in southern Cape May County this storm was worse than hurricane sandy. Reporter and late last night after hearing the comments North Wildwood mayor Patrick Rosenello said im disappointed that he would lower himself as much as he did this evening am i. More disappointed however in the evident lack of concern or respect that he is showing. He also added that he was an early supporter of governor christie in both of his runs for governor. As for christie at the end of this response he said he wanted the names and numbers of the friends of that student who asked the the question so he could follow up with them about the clean judgment we are live from the satellite center, Katherine Scott channel6 action news. Thanks katherine. New this morning a fire broke out damaging a building in south philadelphia. The flames broke out around 4 00 a. M. At 20th and bainbridge streets. Heavy smoke was coming from a first floor of the corner commercial business with apartments above. Everyone was able to get out and there are no reports of injuries. Karen rogers is watching some precipitation this morning. Yeah, its a few showers of freezing drizzle that havent quite reached our area just yet but on storm tracker6 double scan were dry in philadelphia but as far to the northwest where were seeing that area of blue and with double scan we can go in so closely and tell you street by street whats happening here. This is just about to enter near lancaster. Were seeing it near harrisburg along i81, if youre in pottsville along i81 its about to hit near hazelton, lake harmony and mount pocono. Its all lifting up to the north and east. The model is suggesting we dont get hit very much by that but of course any kind of freezing drizzle is a real concern and thats why the National Weather service has this freezing rain advisory for the northwest suburbs. Its carbon Monroe Lehigh berks and northampton counties. Its a brief area of drizzle but it moved through and creates icy roads. Lets go on outside because of course we already have icy roads because of all the melting yesterday and the refreezing overnight as we look live on sky6 you see cloudy skies up above and in fact on satellite6 and action radar you can really see how the clouds have moved right in. And heres that area of freezing drizzle that broke out. You can see its not a very wide area. Were not talking about a long period of this but nonetheless north and west of the city were watching for this to impact us. Lets time out with future tracker and this model suggesting it really falls apart but even at 8 30 you might see some freezing drizzle near lancaster and reading and up near mount pocono so watching that carefully. For the rest of us we really stay dry until the afternoon when a few showers come through. So we look at this through 3 30 in the afternoon and a few showers begin to move through when were above freezing and then a steadier bit of shower at 7 oclock in the evening. So later this afternoon and evening a few showers moving through but were watching closely for that bit of freezing drizzle north and west until 10 oclock. So, at 8 00 a. M. You still may have some freezing drizzle in the northwest suburbs. By 10 00 a. M. , its 38 degrees, just cloudy skies. Were dry. By plan to, its 41, not feeling too bad in fact we make it up to 43 by 3 00 p. M. And thats when well start to see showers move in. By 5 00 p. M. A few showers for your evening commute and even at 5 00 p. M. Its above freezing and 41 trees. Heres what you can expect in your exclusive accuweather 7day forecast. Today lots of clouds, some afternoon showers but through the morning the concern is in the northwest that you may see some freezing drizzle. Thats why we have that freezing rain advisory. On wednesday, clouds give way to some sunshine, 42 degrees. Still pretty nice for this time of year. Well see lots of melting and refreezing overnight with temperatures dipping to 20. Thursday partly sunny skies. Weve got a bubble of High Pressure right above us so its a prettier day but its chilly with a high of just 37. On friday, were watching the coast and this is the day you probably heard us talking about that there is a coastal storm but at this point all the models are suggesting its far enough off the coast that it doesnt impact us and it looks like we stay dry but were watching it carefully. Thats 39 degrees. Saturday partly sunny skies and 40. On sunday some late showers around but mild for the weekend. 47 on sunday. Monday even milder. We make it up to 49 degrees. Well above average for this time of year but yo you may see some Early Morning rain then as well. So not a lot happening in the sevenday forecast. A lot of melting and refreezing. Good. We need that. Thanks karen. 6 42. Up next illegal eagle. Texas police put a former philadelphia quarterback in handcuffs. So much for speak softly and carry a big stick. Two angry drivers spar in the middle of the street. Matt. Some angry drivers on the blue route this morning. Its taking a long time, erin, because of this earlier overturned truck. They just got the truck uprighted here on the end of the ramp from broomall to the northbound side of 476. Well continue watching this, talk about the huge delays its causing swealings delays on 95 and 422 when action news continues on this tuesday morning. 6 45. What you got matt pelman. I got an overturned delivery truck unfortunately matt and erin here along the blue route 476 northbound in broomall delaware county. Chopper six overhead. Well, chopper6 was overhead. Lets just go to oh, no, its back. All right they just uprightd that delivery truck so thats the good news but its here at the end of the ramp from route three, west chester pike to go north on the blue route and still at this point just that far left lane is getting by. So, we are starting to see a mammoth delay on the northbound side of 476. 50 minutes should be 18 as you come northbound and were looking at just 7 Miles Per Hour stacked solid from the route one media bypass on up to route three where the activity to clean up the accident continues. So, instead of the northbound blue route this morning i would really think about using 320 or even stay over to the west on 252 but they are both going to have lots of slick spots so you really do have to take it easy. On the big picture youre taking it easy, youre going nice and slow on 95 now 12 Miles Per Hour southbound by cottman, 27 as you get toward girard a lot of speeds in the 20s and 30s over on the schuylkill as well. This is 422 seeing a delay now eastbound from approaching oaks through this points on into 23. Just morning volume. Already 20 minutes, though on that eastbound travel time. Taking off of two, this is 42 in bellmawr camden county. About a six minute delay there on the northbound travel time. In Hamilton Township Mercer County still have the water main break along 130 southbound south of 195. Ly i would watch out for icy conditions there. And on our good buddy ben, the ben franklin bridge, traffic is moving okay but keep in mind those president walkways remain closed this morning. Matt. Okay, thanks, matt.
