As of right now theres very little regulation of shortterm rentals in d. C. The d. C. Council is considering changing that by requiring homeowners to have a business license and commit the properties to health and safety inspections. And there would be a limit to the number of days per year youd be allowed to rent your home. Thats one of the most contentious issues that brought out so many people on both sides today. Councilmember mcduffy proposed law would limit you to 15 days per year. Airbnb officials want 180. There is a 15 day cap that were looking at. They call it drugged driving and according to a study in 2015, drugs were present in 43 of fatally injured drivers. For the first time there are more dead drivers showing positive for drugs than for alcohol.
