Joining us with stressrelieving ideas is the owner of kidville in bethesda. So good to see you. Thanks for having me. You are a great brain to pick about this. You say that preparation is key. Yes. So i think the more that you can do the night before, the less stressful the morning is. Starting with . With clothes. So, you kno this is for teenagers all the way down to the its guys. But picking out what youre going to wear and having a dialogue with them the night before. Even when youre folding your clothes, pairing outfits together. This is the outfit i thought we were going to wear this morning but didnt happen. You have backup . Exactly. So pairing them together makes things a little smoother the morning of. And you can put them in bags too for the different days . Some moms are creative and ziploc bags, put every outfit for the week. Wow, talk about organization. And this goes for eating too. Yes. So i think prepping the night before and giving limited options to your kids is always, i think, the way to go. So maybe having a day designated for cereal or oatmeal or pancakes or again talking about it and even having the box out, the bowl, everything ready so that in the morning thats one less thing youre worrying about with your kids. And what do we have over here . Because packing the lunch, this is the last thing you want to worry about in the morning. Yes. To expedite this process . So School Lunches can always be challenging, so i have a sample here of a good school lunch. Something out of the box and on my website, i have a lot of other school lunch ideas. But some of the tricks are to cut your fruit and or cut things ahead of time. Prep meals a couple of days ahead of time and have them in containers so its easy to pack the night before. I love like these little gogo squeezes. You can throw them in the fridge or freezer to keep your lunch instead of ice packs. And then you can pack snacks so youre not using ziploc bags. I love the idea of doubling it up as an ice pack. Wonderful. Okay. Keeping everything in the line of fire, meaning you can just grab and go. Yes. Its great in theory but having a place designated in your home where the kids will keep their backpack, that youll put the permission slips that you have to sign so that in the i theyre not like grabbing things from every single direction. This takes a little bit of training, i would say, but start the school year off right now on the right foot by designating that place. Real quick, i tell my kids go brush their teeth. And this is what they hear, run around in circles, stand, grab my toy. That was our exact dialogue this morning. How do we get them to do the things they need to do in the morning . Is it a matter of doing a calendar or checklist . Does that really work . It does work. This is a cool board that has i have a couple of examples on there. But you can do it on your own too. Create a white board and write down the different duties they should be doing. I think its sometimes fun to make it a game with a timer so maybe set the timer and give them x amount of minutes to do whatever they need to do. Oftentimes when you make it fun and theyre on the clock, it helps to speed things up. They like that sense of accomplishment too, right . One tip, i think you set the timer not them, because o the mix, its a whole other world. Youve got to take control. Yes. Turn around, youve got to appreciate this dress. Look how cute that is.
