Let get right to the rescue of hannah anderson, reunited with her father after a massive manhunt that stretched from Southern California to idaho. Ryan owen is in boise with the latest. Yesterday, she met with a view visitors, namely the horseback riders whose tip blew this case wide open. It wasnt just those heros in uniform who saved hannah anderson. Hannahs coming home. Reporter it was these sharpeyed civilians on horseback. Just had a gut feeling about him. Reporter these four came across the 16yearold and her 40yearold kidnapper last week in idaho. Hannah was wearing pajamas, appeared scared, kept looking away, and muttered i think were all in trouble now. When they saw the teens picture on tv, they call police. And hundreds of federal agents descended on the woods. First spotting the car friday morning. Police just released the pictures of how he tried to cover it up with limbs and brush. Saturday, from the air, they discovered a camp site to surprise dimaggio, members of the Fbi Hostage Rescue Team jumped from a helicopter and hiked 2 1 2 treacherous hours. The fbi will not detail what happened next, only that dimaggio was given a chance to surrender before they killed him. The onetime close family friend murdered hannahs mother and 8yearold brother. Their bodies found in his Burning House in san diego county. The strangest cake of like father like son. In 1989, a pain reported that James Dimaggio senior was arrested for breaking into a home and holding a 16yearold at gun poipt. The girl, the same age as hannah, escaped through a bathroom window. Theres more. Family friends say dimaggios dad committed suicide on august the 10th, all those years ago. The very same day his son was killed by the fbi. Feoff it inially something that snapped. The only thing that makes sense is the correlation with the dates of his fathers suicide. Reporter hannahs grandparents, family, friends are all eager for her homecoming. We all concurred, it was a teenage daughter was made to go on a trip with her dad and was very unhappy about it. She was not happy to be there. Did it appear she had been hurt at all . All of this happening a few miles outside of orlando in the town of clermont. It sounded like a car hitting the building. Reporter they had no warning. First the lights went out. Then chaos. We heard shaking, glass breaking. And we thought maybe it was just kids running up and down the hall or something. Next thing i know, people are yelling, get out of the building, get out of the building. Reporter within seconds, this massive crack opened in the foundation, caused bay 40 to 50foot wide neath the building. One person had to break out of a window because the door frame collapsed. He and his wife and infant, he had to break the window so they could escape. Reporter the apartment had collapsed. The entire building tilting to one side. Right now, the threestory building looks like a twostory building. Its utter chaos. Reporter this morning, another villa evacuated nearby, not sure about the stability of the ground. Thankfully, everyone did escape safely before the collapse. Look at that as dawn has broken in clermont. The sinkhole may be growing deeper. So far, it was not appear to be growing wider, which is helping crews as they try to stabilize the area. Well have updates throughout the morning. Were expecting a major announcement today from attorney general eric holer. He wants to change how some nonviolent lowlevel drug offenders are prosecuted. The goal is to ease prison overcrowding, save pun, and correct what holder calls unfairness in the system. Hes revealing his plan today in san francisco. I woke up a couple of hours ago like just getting ready for the day. Yeah, im good. Im good. Michael well, you have kids. Rebecca well, yeah. The kids get you up early. We both have twins. We both have twin daughters. Michael yeah. And now, how are the twins, by the way . Rebecca my girls are great. My husband, jerry, is back at work on his new show called we are men for cbs but he is now shooting. So im now back in charge of my kids. When i was shooting my show, he was in charge and now, im michael when youre shooting king maxwell, hes playing daddy. And hes like mr. Mom. Rebecca yeah. I was in vancouver shooting that series. And we tag team with work so now im back. Michael how are your parenting styles . Are they the same or a little different . Rebecca theyre a little different. Were pretty good about not micromanaging each other. If hes running the show, i dont step on his toes and vice versa. But we dont agree on each others styles lately. But we thinks pizza for every meal is feel meal. And if i stepping on every happy meal toys, if thats any indication by the whole time im gone, they dont get ice cream for dinner. Michael jerry, just say i just bought the toys, honey. The kids, we have twins, as you know and your girls are 4. Mine with 8. But theyre so different. Rebecca yes. Michael theyre so different. Now is there one whos more like you and theres one more like jerry . Rebecca yes and no. Its like a weird experiment in sociology where you have two people who were born at exactly the same time with identical up brinksings, still sleep in the same bedroom but theyve been different since they were born. People are born how they were born. Thats whats amazing about twins. You get to see that. One is a little more like jerry. Dolly really attacks after me. Our baby pictures are identical. Theyre both swimmers. Jerry and i are both swimmer. We have not taken a Beach Vacation with them because they were not swimming. And last year, we had swim lessons and they didnt get anything out of it. They were still attached to their floaties and we said well, we still cant on a Beach Vacation. So we found this woman who guaranteed that she could teach them how to swim in two weeks. And what if she doesnt do it . What do you get back . She guarantees it. Rebecca she said the parents are not supposed to come to the pool. I teach them survival. What . You teach push them in the pool . Michael here you go kids by the end of the first day, they were diving in the pool. Theyre so confident in the water. And look. We just came back from our first family Beach Vacation finally. We did it. [applause] michael was your husband like wearing some Shorty Rebecca i married a guy who wears a speedo. Jerry is a speedowearing guy. Michael what . Rebecca i know. [applause] in his show, he wears a speedo but also a home, hes an avid swimmer and hes a guy who wears a speedo. Michael you said he wear it at home. [laughter] rebecca well, hes aware that it might make other people uncomfortable so hes willing to put on a pair of baggy shorts and we have company over. Michael i would hope so if you have a barbecue and jerrys over there bar cuing with some barbecuing with some speedos im good. I think im going to get me a happy meal with a toy after this. [laughter] rebecca hes a guy with a peedo. You dont do it, michael . Michael no, i dont want to embarrass all the guys out there. [laughter] thats a joke. Too much can come out. And im not an avid swimmer like that either. Im a survivor. [laughter] you throw me in the pool, its like let me get to the edge. [laughter] im just surviving. But your kids now, 4 years old. Mine are 8. They have ipads. And they love their ipads. So do your kids play on the ipads . Rebecca yes, we got them ipads. This was jerrys idea. I said just get them a toddler tablet. Theyre only 4. And he said im telling you, this is going to make them so much more sophisticated in the long run and we got them ipads. You know, its allowed us to take them to dinner out with us and actually have a conversation. We can talk to each other because our girls are busy with by the way, the first day they had their ipads, they were able to write their own names at the end of the day. They werent even 4 yet. Michael wow. Theyre advanced. But do you have a pet . You have a dog . Rebecca we have three dogs. Michael do your dogs use the ipad . Rebecca no. Michael in the wall street journal, theres an article. A trainer is providing private ipad lessons to your dogs. Yeah. To the dog. Shes had 25 clients who signed up and shes going to teach fido how to work an ipad and how to use their nose to turn pages and to activate the apps and all that stuff and they said it teaches valuable motor skills and even promote social behavior by gauging engaging loaner animals. Rebecca im just trying to get my dog stop chewing from its butt. [laughter] michael thats what amazes me. And if you do put your dog rebecca what does a dog get out of it . Michael it teaches your dog to be social and maybe when youre not at home you dog can play games. Rebecca this is crazy. Michael it used to be turning on tv and make some noise so he knows somebodys home. Now hes like i opened up your ipad and lets go ahead and play some games on it. What if you come home and your dog found out the password to your itunes and ordering all kinds of apps on it . Rebecca yeah. [laughter] yeah, i see all sorts of problems. Michael careful. You have to be careful. Rebecca speaking of apps, theres an app thats about to be launched that lets you take a photo of whats left of your meal, post it and wait for someone nearby to claim the food. Michael no rebecca to trade their leftovers for yours. Michael i honestly almost lost my food right here on this table. Thats disgusting. [laughter] rebecca well, if theres leftover food, i can see its all about wastefulness. Its like your kids. Michael im picturing leftovers in a different way. Im looking at a plate and somebodys like did all that eating and theres like sloppy. Rebecca i guess if you make it pretty for the picture, you can pretty up the leftovers before you take the picture and send it. Its like how much time passes . That cheese is looking kind of sweaty. Can you turn it down, i wonder . Once it shows up, you dont like the way it looks . Michael i think you can take it and repost it. You can regift some leftover food. How about that . [laughter] that is nasty. Rebecca its weird, right . Michael its one thing if i can see it sitting in the pot like they havent touched it. But i picture a messy plate going you want some of this . No, i do not. Thats nasty. When you got married, was it a traditional wedding . Did you throw a bouquet . Rebecca yeah. Michael who caught it . Rebecca a friend of mine. Michael did she get married . Rebecca you know, i dont remember. [laughter] michael oh, what a great friend you knew at your wedding. [laughter] how close was she . Rebecca to be honest, i dont even remember who caught it. Michael but, you know, now its kind of taboo. Its becoming taboo to toss your bouquet. Rebecca why . Michael because women dont want to scramble for it because if youre in your thirst, and youre fighting and youre looking desperate. Rebecca its desperate. I agree. So i caught up on all my episodes of breaking bad when i was shooting king maxwell and i finished the third season at 10 a. M. And i walked into the the elevator of the building that i was doing and brian cran on was in the elevator. And i was still in i was still in it. Michael he may have been in your building cooking up a little something. But hes an amazing actor. And funny. He was on the show like a week or so ago. And he is so talented and so funny to go from comedy like, you know, what was it . Gelman malcolm in the middle. Michael and then to be this guy from breaking bad. What a show. He is scary on the show. Rebecca i was on the elevator with him. I was having this weird physical reaction where i was like what is happening with my hand . Michael you look him in the eye . Rebecca no. Walter white was standing behind me. It was crazy. [laughter] it was good, though. Michael i have to watch it. Its on my d. V. R. I will be watching it. When you buy stuff, do you take back a lot of stuff you buy . Rebecca you know, i do a lot of Online Shopping. Michael really . Theyve made Online Shopping so easy to return things. Yes, i return a lot. Because thats the first time youre seeing it when it shows up on your doorsteps. Michael i like to go up there and see it and touch it. Im too lazy. Even if they send me the envelope, i put it in there and i never make it to the post office. Or if you got to walk back to the store, i would be like too much work. Rebecca you know whats too much work for me . Pushy salespeople. Thats too much work. And i like the privacy of trying things on in my own home and deciding there in my own lighting if its ok. [laughter] michael i have my own private lighting when i try on my stuff. Rebecca dressing room lighting be unforgiving. Michael there are a lot of people who like to return a lot of stuff. If you do, theyre tracking you now. There are certain stores who track people who take back a lot of merchandise. Maybe youre a big shopper but they know how much you return, how much they can county. Your dollar that they can key. If you buy something, dont try to keep the tag for three weeks and return it. Well, my favorite snack, which eliminated all the evening ice cream and pizza and i dont have those chips with the that went away and what was replaced was rice cakes with ketchup, mustard and rebecca what . And sweet relish. The pickled sweet relish. Which then you get about three of those on the plate and you really load the condiments up, youre eating hot dogs. [laughter] rebecca right. In your head, youre eating hot dogs. And i trick myself. And thats what i youre eating cardboard. [laughter] rebecca its all about the condiments. Im a condiment queen. So i appreciate that. Not necessarily, no. He tries. He tries and then he has an impatience in him that just, you know, blows. But he is making an effort to he has a crisis of confidence. He understands that people dont like him. And so hes working on that and mckenzie is a big help. Rebecca its an erin sorkin show who writes a lot of dialogue how do you guys memorize all that . Its rapid fire. You have to. We shoot it over a period of six, seven months and every weekend, its like cramming for an exam. Youre just in the hotel or the apartment with a script. We have a lot of new york theater actors that are on the show. And on broadway, you have a lot of dialogues. So for us, its not that different. The amount of time we have to memorize is a lot shorter, but there are tricks. If theres a line that has three ps in it, you go ok, p, p, p. Unlike stepping stones across a river. But eventually, its just Walking Around in the dark with your script and repping it and repping it and repping it until you cant stand the sound of yourself. What i like spending about the book, so many different things. This is like one part fun approximaty memoir. Its a lot of useful information and easy to read charts so if you just been diagnosed o or someone in your family has been diagnosed, you know the difference in type one or two, what glycemic index is. There is practical stuff, too, recipe plans, fitness, it is like lot of different books in one. I felt like when i got diagnoseed with diabetes, i didnt know a lot about it, i different sources. Lot of it took me a long time to figure out what i could do that would work for me. I wrote this book, like diabetes for dummy. Rachael that is the point i was making tis easy to digest, all the information is easy. I think thatonfuses people. When they hear didiabetes, whato eat, what do i give up . What is glycemic low . What if this is do nothing my body . I started at 197 pounds, couldnt breathe, i was having symptoms, nbness in hands and feet, i was going to the bathroom all the time, my vision was blurry. I was eating out of control. Pancakes, fried food, mac and cheese, ribs, that would have killed me. That is the way i was going. Having diabetes forces me to look at everything i put in my mouth. To own it, ive been exercising and become f friends with dancg with the stars. [cheers and applause] rachael not only do you wk out, you can work out in rhinestones, dance around in your underwear. In places i cant even mention. Rachael i also love the dedication of your yes. Rachael to my mom, lavern shepherd who, is not truly aware of the deadliness of diabetes. You left this world too soon, your spirit lives within me, i love you, momma. Thats my mom. [cheers and applause] she was i know. M mother was 41 when she and thats young when she passed away from diabetic complications. She didnt know a lot about diabetes. She wasnt lazy, she didt know too much. Really, her organs started to shut down and we had to make the decision to take her off lifee support. She went into a comb a. I started tthe view when i was 40. Hat was scary. Rachael emotional. I dont want to leave jeffrey motherless like my mother did me. There are so many things she didnt teach me. I wrote this book in honor of my mother to let other people know about diabetes and how to live a healthy life. Rachael you can live your best life. You can live the best life and feel good. My favorite thing about the book, though, iant to say, i really compliment you on how thorough the whole thing is and you break it down into baby steps for people there is philosophies in here that i use in my life and i dont have type 2 diabetes. The most important one i think is the sense of humor thining. Yeah. You have to have a sense of humor when going through this thing, that is the only thing that got me through. One thing i say, i had to change my relationship with food. Face it, when you break up with somebody, you dont say, i need steamed asparagus. Somebody give me broccoli, quick, you know. You have to have humor. Rachael smile through it, the motto i love. Smile through it. When i go to the gym, i got to visualize it, i dont like going to the gym and working out. I used to go to the smoothy bar and walk back out. You know what, when i get on that treadmill, i pretend im beyonce in that pepsi commercial. Ii got to dance at my concert, dance you got to have [cheers and applause] you find thinings that make u smile, Little Things that you know are blessings in your life. You know what i lolove, jeffy likes to do this, he said to me the other day, mommy, im going to be val, my partner on dancing with the stars, and were going to dance together. He puts on a song and he sings to me as we dance and then wants to d me, except im so heavy. He tries to dip me. So for me, i love dance withing my son and him singing me a song. Tides me over, t that was breakfast today. Rachael lunch . Lunch, i had salmon and corn and mushroom. I keep carbs off. There is squash in there and tomato f. Your food is colorful rachael its good for you. I have so much energy, im not going, i dontt know when e last time i said, i got to take a nap w. That kind of stuff, i dont. This is what my husband made, kale salad. I love kale. Rachael lovove kale, too. Kale is really good. Rachael dont be afraid of kale, delicious in caesar salad, crisped up in the oven as a snack. Kale chips are delicious. He made that . Kale with walnuts and mango chunks. He made the dressing f it. It is sexy when hes cooking. Im doing pushups against the counter while hees cooking. Now i suppose you have to take out the garbage, but i dont say that in the bedroom. Aside from that, you could just sort of find y your groove personally. Maybe sort of say words that feel comfortable for you when youre not with him. I think thats what creates the awkwardness, you now have an audience to the weirdness. [cheers and applause] if it is not because you are getting a lot of sex, whatever you are eating, keep it up. I think this is such a common problem for busy peep nel general. Doesnt matter your age. Yes. Rachael scheduling. Can you think of anything more than unsexyhan scheduling sex . That seems crazy, but let me tell you, couples find more satiaction when their sex is scheduled. You know why . Biologically, your body prepares for that physical activity in advance. Scheduling sex is a great thing to do and i find that couples will be texting each other sex and he racy messages rachael you are looking forward to it. Ou are looking forward to it. But your body is sem cally, biokemiccally preparing. Rachael like when you set the alarm, but you wakee up 10 minutes before the alarm goes off, your body knows when you got to get up. Lets goo the calendar this, is how i would have scheduled you. Lets see, may 4 is national join hands day. Were going t do that and my hope for you, you will join him. Hat would be really nice. It could be what you actually had at that meal. Lets take a look at this. For example, cheese. Cheese has hormones in it. It can mess up our own sexual chemistry and own sexual hormonal balance. Sherri, i wanted to show you a spial meal that is super easy and figure friendly. Its nice Center Cut Pork loin, pork is the other white meat. Yes, it is. Rachael nice and light and delicious and flavorful, not a ton of fat content. The pork loin itself is very lean. You could make this dish with a big roast chicken, too,o big deal. I like the pork loin. Rachael pork loin is delicious, what were going to do, make a springtime crust to go all over the pork loin. And then youre going to set the pork loin on roasting rack over vegetables here. Youre looking at spring onions, you are looking a sweet fennele, you are looking at carrots, sweet onion, this is just down i love all this. Rachael yes. While e it cooks down, get the flavor out of the vegetables. That lemon smells good. Doesnt that smell good. For the coating, spring onion, throw those in here. In here. Rachael yes, the white and green, fine chop them. You are coating the entire pork loin with onion and i did lots of garlic in here. Im going to add juice of the lemon in there. Throw in our herbs, thymyme, rosemayor and h he fennel seed. Throw that in here. With the onion and garlic, is he still going to want to get it on . R rachael two onion and garlics cancel each other out. Garlic and onion get sweet when you cook them. Okay. Rachael now take the olive oil, evoo, slather it all over that, just enough to coat it. Oohthis, feels good. Rachael doesnt that feel good . Ooh, yeah. Rachael take the kosher or sea salt and pepper with your dry hand. With my dry hand. Rachael sprinkle that over. Beautiful. Is that too much . Does it matter . Rachael that is great. You are the boss of your food. And salt. That is not too much salt . Rachael it is up to you, your dish. If you are watching sodium, use less, use more for the citrus flavor, it will compensate for less salt. Take this mixture and ill show you with one inch of the end and just pss all of that into and around the pork. Okay. Rachael just cover completely in this. Pork massage therapist. Rachael correct. So now all you have to do, all the flavor is herere, all you he to do is wrap this in plastic to keep everybody in place. Yes. The whole thing will taste like that, delicious. We can add extra zest to our pan drippings in the pan xhchltere and rinse up. Im going to show you, you put roasting rack over the veg, s s the drippings from the pork fall down into the vegetable. Yeah. Rachael im not adding extra onion. The fennel, carrot and im going to add moisture. Some dry whiwine. And a quart of stock, why so much stock . Were going to use the pan juices and all the flavor of the vegetables to make gravy. Ooh, looks good. Rachael a we have to do is throw in the oven and it takes two hoururs. When it comes out, let it rest. Throw that into the oven, i will wash up and meet you back here. Okay. Yyou want me to rest before you carve it to allow the juices to redistribute back into the meat. Here is our veg, k kept nice an moist with wine and stock. Sherri is making roux, flour and butter cooked together. Then when it bubbles up, you can start adding in your pan drippings. The drippings have all the flavor off fennel, onion, garli, that great flaefr marinating on and the flavor of fresh fennel, sweet onion we roasted under the broiler. Granny slab right here. Rachael this is a delicious, delicious simple meal that is elegant and really healthy. Mmm rachael add inhe great flavors with the drippings. Dsnt it smell terric . Smells so good. Rachael i meant to tell you, i was noticing on the workout video, you had big, beautiful hair. Today you have short cap. How is the wig line going . The wig line is going. Heat that to infuse the flavor and just drop your dark green down in there just to heat them through and get garlic oil all arod. Rachael your gravy is beautiful, by the way. Parboil for a few minutes, if it is kale, wilt and drain it. A littltle garlic and chili fla. I will hold this down for you. Rachael let the meat rest and carve it, carve up what you need. If approximate you serve for the two of you or three of you, just make enough slice it. Rachael then you have more versatatility with what is left. You can cut it thihick or thin r sandwiches or cut it thicker good for a sandwich. Rachael chunk it for chili or stew, really good. Next to at, we have roast vegetables you were so excited about, the fennel, the onion, the carrots, start you a plate he. Is that rude . Rachael isnt that gorgeous so good.
