A parking lot on north graham street around 11 20 last night. Gunfire was exchanged between two cars and one person was shot in the arm. Police still are not sure of their condition this morning. Were asking if police have any suspects. Also breaking overnight, the homeowners dog from this home, they woke up the homeowner and helped them escape a fire at this gastonia house. Officials say an electrical malfunction in the homes heating system caused the fire. Crews responded around 12 45 this morning. They found smoke coming from the home and a fire in the kitchen. Crews put out the fire in about ten minutes but by then it cost 10,000 in damage. New this morning, while donald trump took the South Carolina republican primary, we now know who finished a close second trump won 32. 5 of the vote overnight the Associated Press said marco rubio edged out ted cruz by less than. 2 of 1 percentage point. That is close. Cnn lists marco rubio with 22. 5 while cruz has a close 22. 3 of the vote. That is a difference of about 1,000 votes. We wont know the results until the confirmation this saturday. Now just hours after the polls closed, jeb bush announces he is suspended his campaign. He finished a distant fourth, 14 behind third place ted cruz. In the last hour, our abc affiliate in kalamazoo, michigan says it is jason dalton. All over this began around 6 00 last night. Police say that it appears the shootings were random. It began at some town homes where a woman was shot several times. She is in serious condition right now. About three hours later, police were called to a car dealership. There they found a father and son dead and a third person in Critical Condition. Police were then called to a Cracker Barrel restaurant where five people were killed including that eightyearold. The housing code says if your apartment has a certain code violation, they can not collect rent from you until they fix the violations but as jason reports that is thoughts what it means. The law is so vague that you could read it wrong and get evicted. Reporter she worry about her children. I want it safe for my boys. Reporter she said her apartment in northwest charlotte has had problems from the time she moved in. Rotten countertops, loose cabinet panels, exposed wires. I called, called, left messages, went down to the office. Put in work orders. Still, wouldnt get nothing done. Reporter last spring white called Code Enforcement which found eight cold violations and gave them one month to fix them and told the complex it is illegal to charge white in the meantime. It is unlawful for the owner to collect rent. Reporter white says and they confirmed six months went by and the complex still haznt fixed the problems. It racked up 2,500 in fines from Code Enforcement between may and last month. White thought legally she could stop paying rent and she did. It is still an open case. Reporter cold enforcement says the law is confusing. Just because the landlord cant collect rent doesnt mean you dont have to pay rent. That was there for the landlords to put them on notice and they were serious. The tenants read its like most people would. I dont have to pay rent. That is not the idea.
