The vigil was held in woodbridge last night for officer ashley guindon. Guindon and two other officers were responding to a domestic dispute saturday night when they were shot. Guindon, a 6 year Marine Corp Reservist and previous intern with the police department. Was just sworn in friday. The two other officers who were shot are still in the hospital. Shooting them 32 year old Ronald Hamilton is an active Duty Army Staff Sergeant assigned to the pentagon. He will make his First Court Appearance later this morning. In Portsmouth Police say two young boys were accidentally shot at two different locations. The first happened just after 1030 yesterday morning on lancer drive. Police say a 7 yearold shot himself in the hand as he was playing with an unsecured gun inside his home. He is in the hospital and is expected to be okay. Not long after over on moregate lane in the churchland section of the city a 9year old was shot in the leg by another boy playing with a gun he found outside. The boy was taken to the hospital and will also be okay. Investigations are still ongoing and charges are pending in both cases. Portsmouth police say these incidents are an important reminder to talk to your kids about gun safety, even if you dont own a gun. In Newport News Police say a teen was shot on Jefferson Avenue near dresden drive around 11 saturday night. Police say when they got to the scene they found 18yearold Horton Hunter with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to the hospital and released shortly after but was then arrested by police. Police say the carrolton man had two outstanding warrants for assault and battery on a Family Member and a protective order violation. No word on who shot him. There were two other shootings in newport news saturday. One was on 25th street. Police say a 19yearold was shot in the leg twice. He says it was out of the blue. The other happened on Jefferson Ave in the parking lot of the pondo cafe and lounge. Police say a man was shot in the chest and was taken to the hospital with lifethreatening injuries.
