It feels like its in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees so even those numbers have gone down. One thing that is increasing is the tropical activity in the atlantic. Its been very quiet. We are now in the historical peak of hurricane season. We now have a Tropical Storm out there, Tropical Storm danny, with 40 mile an hour winds. It is expected to strengthen. In the past hour an arrest in connection with the shooting of a 10yearold boy inside his home. Police are telling us they have arrested Jaleel Goldsborough but arent releasing details about his relationship to the boy or his family. The 10yearold boy was shot overnight inside this house on townsend street. He is out of surgery but remains in critical condition. Its tragic. Its just terrible. I dont even know its just unbelievable. Its unsafe anywhere. Our children cant come out and play. Now they cant even be in their own home. About an hour ago, a swarm of Police Officers right here came to a house a few doors down from where the boy was shot. They took a man out in handcuffs, put him in a police car. We are working to learn more about this latest phase of the investigation. This afternoon, congressman chaka fattah vowed to fight the corruption charges against him. He pleaded not guilty and so did two of his four codefendants. Nbc 10s Deanna Durante watched all the proceedings and is joining us from center city. Reporter congressman chaka fattah has been released on a signature bond, meaning he didnt have to put up cash for his bail. However, a judge told him that if he violates that bail agreement, he could be charged with a new crime. Thats when he told the judge he hasnt committed any crime. An attorney representing the Pennsylvania Attorney general says she will likely go public with new information about a pornographic email scandal. This as kane fights criminal charges. Her Attorney Says the emails and attached images are critical to proving shes innocent of perjury, obstruction and other charges. As pennsylvanias budget standoff drags on, local School Officials are calling on lawmakers to get a deal done. This is a nonpartisan issue. Temperatures hovering right in that area all day today. The showers not that far away in pennsylvania and maryland and virginia. But theyre moving pretty much straight to the north. This whole area is just going to gradually move eastward so thats why our western counties have the best chance of seeing any showers tomorrow, whether its morning or afternoon. Here we go as we go through the night tonight. Its generally dry. We continue to see that southerly wind. That keeps the humidity up there. You can see a few showers, even tomorrow morning, again, generally in the western counties and some more developing in the afternoon. You dont really see much in new jersey and that strong sea breeze may help keep a lot of the moisture back to the west tomorrow. Then on thursday, the atmosphere is getting a little more moist and you see more showers around, especially in delaware, and again, the western counties. By friday, things may be coming into the rest of the area. Well, here we are, and theres danny. 3,000 miles away from us so its not exactly an immediate threat. 40 mile an hour winds moving west at 12. Its not even moving that fast. Theres really a tremendous difference in the computer models as to what this thing is going to do. Not so much where its going to go. The general track from pretty much all the models is to the west which is typical for this time of year. This is the peak of hurricane season, too. The threat to the caribbean islands. The question is about how strong it gets. Some of the models turn it into a major hurricane but some dont even strengthen it at all. You rarely see such a difference here. The official forecast from the National Hurricane center gradually takes it up to a category 2, 100 mile an hour storm by sunday. So by sunday, it still hasnt hit the eastern caribbean, let alone anything else. But its the time of year when these things do tend to strengthen and you can get some of the bigger storms coming from that particular direction. If the conditions are favorable. That strong el nino in the pacific is helping suppress all the hurricanes out there. We will see which win. Warm and humid, patchy fog late, 74 degrees for the low in philadelphia, 68 north and west. Tomorrow, close to the 90 degree mark. Chance of a thunderstorm, could be a shower in the morning, could be late in the day.
