That means its time for colds that can spread quickly from child to child. Thats right. But before you led to the drugstore listen carefully. Health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman is here with things parents should keep in mind. Were talking about cold and cough medications for kids. Over the past few years, there have been a lot of changes about whats recommended and there are now greater concerns about kids accidentally overdosing. The health team at Consumer Reports is warning about the dangers. Medicine is meant to heal but new Research Shows some drugs intended to help kids feel better can harm them instead if too much is taken. Generally safe when used at directed but many of the problems happen when kids get into these medications on their own. A recent study in the journal pediatrics identified more than 3200 cases of kids younger than 12 who suffered serious side effects including hallucinations, rapid heartbeat and even death. Many as a result of accidentally ingesting too much cough or Cold Medicine. They can be tempting. Some might be colorful, some might be tasty. The really important thing is that theyre kept away from kids. While you should never give cough and Cold Medicine to kids under four, beyond that, the health team at Consumer Reports says theres not a lot of evidence they work very well anyway. And suggest trying some Home Remedies instead. You want to keep kids hydrated with things like warm drinks, soup or decaffeinated tea. Those things may loosen congestion and soothe a sore throat. For kids 12 months and older, try adding a bit of honey which some research has shown can be as effective at relieving a cough as some over the counter cough medicine. Kids five and older can suck on a sugar free lozenge or candy which can reduce the urge to cough and soothe an irritated throat. So can mixing a half teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water for a gargling solution. And if you do have Young Children at home, make sure to put medication up and away out of childrens reach and sight. Its also smart to put medicine away after each use and never leave it out on a kitchen counter or a childs bedside table even if youre going to use it again in a few hours. Of course you want to make sure that you lock the cap on the medicine bottles as well, rick and monica. Thats right. Good advice. Thanks, ali. Time for sports now and the eagles new running back seemed to fit in just fine yesterday as the birds moved to eight and one. Sports director Ducis Rodgers with a look at highlights from the big game against the broncos. Jaws, we knew the eagles were good. Did we know they were this good . I dont think anyone knew they were this good. They are playing at a very high level and i Doug PedersonsFootball Team autograph your performance every week. Yesterday they put a signature on that performance. Im going to show you the offensive line and the big eaters down in the trenches we dont give them enough credit but on the 46yard touchdown run by ajayi it was picture perfect. Youll see vaitai, kelsey come around and lead them up field. Youll see Brandon Brooks get down the field and clear a nice lane for jay ajayi to go to the house on this play. Well done by the big eaters up front. Look at that hole ducis. You could have got through the second level maybe not. Ajayi i love the finish. He knows where the pylon is. Hes focused on the pylon. Can i get there, can i get there. He just crossed the goal line with the ball over the pylon. Tremendous effort by jay ajayi in his first game as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles adding depth to that running game. More from the offensive line here. Athleticism. We saw the raw strength. The right side of the offensive line on this screenplay is well executed. Doing a little fake right at von miller. Get clement second level of defense and what you get is a beautifully executed screen pass. Fake get behind the big horses down the field. Look at them guys down the field. Brooks down the field, kelce down the field, lane johnson down the field. Look at this offensive line. Right now the heartbeat carson wentz in the mix right now the heartbeat of the Philadelphia Eagles that offensive line playing very well. Run this right at von miller. He forgot he has coverage responsibility come and gets the ball couple moves and you put it in the end zone. Lets get to the heartbeat. You know. The quarterback we cant go on without talking about carson wentz. What did you see from him yesterday. Tremendous mechanics. I always look for the little detail. When i got up this morning i was like a kid at christmas. I wanted to watch my guy carson wentz have another brilliant game and here he is in the shotgun. Hes got a double move down at the bottom of the screen slant first move and a go for the second move. But what carson wentz typifies here is perfect mechanics. As you run this, youre going to see the little shoulder roll, reset and look at accurate throw. Not bad coverage by a linebacker but still a linebacker andre burton, burton is going to win that matchup. Weve talked all season long, ducis, pinpoint accuracy from carson wentz. Look where that ball was placed. Away from the defender, just inbound, ooh, and burton just barely held onto that to give us another one of those, carson wentz playing at m. V. P. Level right now. Leads the league with 23 touchdowns. We enter the bye week now. Whats the message if youre head coach doug pederson. Forget about were eight and one. The only thing that matters now the next seven games and the playoffs and maybe fourthly the super bowl. Eagles looking good. Hes jaws, im ducis. Back to you. All right. Terrific. Thanks, guys.
