Jones saying last night we have shown the country the way that we can be unified but still no concession speech from roy moore. The final vote, we must say, was extremely close. It appears that women played a crucial role. They made the difference for jones over moore. More fallout for the me too movement and tom llamas in montgomery with the latest. Good morning, tom. The campaign knew they were in trouble and the Campaign Manager asking everyone to pray but it wasnt enough. Those accusations and doug jones tireless campaigning put moore away. This morning for the first time in 25 years, alabama is sending a democrat to the u. S. Senate. We have been at crossroads in the past, and, unfortunately, we have usually taken the wrong fork. We have shown not just around the state of alabama, but we have shown the country the way that we can be unified. Reporter moore unable to recover from accusations he molested two teenage girls when he was in his 30s. Accusations he denied but blamed for for not coming out on top. Part of the problem with this campaign is weve been painted in an unfavorable and unfaithful light. Weve been put in a hole. Reporter signaling he would favor an automatic recount in jones margin of victory is less than half of 1 . Currently that margin is 1. 5 with over a million of the ballots counted. Reporter his biggest supporter, President Trump, accepting defeat tweets congratulations to doug jones on a hard fought victory and the alabama gop putting out this statement saying now that this race has ended may this Holiday Season of peace, love and hope resonate with everyone regardless of ones political affiliation. And as of last night, the secretary of state here in alabama said a recount would not be likely. Now, the president weighing in just moments ago again. He just tweeted this. Lets put it up on the screen, sounds like the president may have buyers remorse. The reason i originally endorsed Luther Strange and his numbers went up mightily is that i said roy moore will not be able to win the general election. I was right. Roy worked hard but the deck was stacked against him. Luther stranges numbers did not go up mightily after that. I should point out. Jon, the ramifications for President Trump, he won the state of alabama by 28 points last time around. Last night the state was divided over whether or not they favored him. The president is now 02 in this senate race. He supported the losing candidate in the primary. Now the losing candidate in judge moore in the general election. And the key worry here at the white house is that this will be a harbinger for the midterm elections, that this could mean that the president will face spectacular losses in the house, maybe even lose control of the senate in the midterms. Thats what one top adviser to the president said to me was their fear here this morning. Immediate consequences on capitol hill. The Senate Republican majority will drop by one on a ballot january 3rd and wont impact the tax likely but will affect everything next year. Likely make their agenda for republicans harder to get done and could put pressure on Mitch Mcconnell to work more with democrats. In the short term republicans are hoping this doesnt impact their big fight on tax reform and are optimistic they can get it done before christmas and doug jones is not expected to join the senate until next year but thats still not a done deal yet. You talk about the canaries in the coal mine for next year, one of the big things we saw was wind, especially moderate suburban, some republicans switching sides voting against roy moore. Now, i spoke with the former staffer mentioned in thesealleg insists she never experienced any misconduct, never filed a complaint and has, quote, nothing but theemories of her time workingith Chuck Schumer. The senator has gone to the police, the victim is going to the police as well about this forgery. Several news organizations as you said got these forged documents. A man known for cooking pasta to perfection now in hot water himself as the Washington Post details new accusations of unwanted touching and inappropriate behavior at a party in to 10. She was a special Events Coordinator for marios restaurant in l. A. And she had been bent over a high top table and he groped her in a very intimate, very uncomfortable way. Reporter another woman at the party says a very drunk batali demanded she get into a car and, quote, make out with him. It felt like a situation that i was responsible for getting myself out of as quickly as possible. Reporter batali gave this statement to the post saying i apologize profoundly to the people i have mistreated and hurt. The entire day of events surround the party i was the personification of idiocy, a drunken and idiotic fool. That behavior was horribly wrong, shameful and degrading and there are no excuses. In a New York Times reports about Sexual Harassment accusations against the owner of the spotted pig a former manager told the times she saw available video of a drunk batali who was drunk groping and kissing a woman who appeared unconscious. This is after he stepped away from his businesses after past allegations were revealed. Abc released a estimating asking him to step away from the chew while they review allegations. Tuesday hddressed his absence. We want you to know we take shes seriously and are committed to a safe work environment. Batalis bad behavior was just about as well known in the restaurant world as his cooking prowess. Sexual misconduct happens. Its rampant in every tri and the culinary industry is no different. It was finally time and people are able to find their voices and speak up and feel like there wont be repercussions. Lets bring in dan abrams for more on this, dan, could mario batali be facing criminal charges with some of these . Look, in theory, yes, because as weve talked about before, even an unwanted touching can be considered criminal. But youve got two issues here, number one is the possible statute of limitations. Weve talked about that before as well as to when these things happen and, number two, whether theyve got the desire, the resolve, the information to move forward with possible criminal charges. I think its very unlikely, the more serious concern for him are civil lawsuits. Speaking to that because in a statement regarding some of these allegations batali says, acknowledges that some of this behavior occurred and so that the question then is is he opening himself up for civil lawsuits. As a sort of moral matter, what he said is the right thing to say. He took responsibility. Said its unacceptable. He doesnt have excuses and as a legal matter, thats dangerous business. Meaning hes now given a statement to a plaintiffs lawyer to say, you see, hes basically admitting that not only has he done this one time, in this was a pattern because hes not even responding specifically to an individual. He is sort of saying as a blanket matter, yeah, you know, this kind of sounds like me but, again, with a civil lawsuit you will face the same question we talked about which is statute of limitations and for this sort of stuff, for example, in new york would range from one to three years depending on what the exact allegation was. And not that this is any excuse whatsoever, but talk little about the environment in which some occurred, the restaurant stress, a testosteronedriven world some may say. Why i dont think this has come to light. It is an unstructured environment. Theres typically not unless youre working forego a major, major conglomerate not an Hr Department at individual restaurants. And so single people have enormous power and influence and as a result, it can make it harder to report these sorts of things but i think thats going to change. Getting blackballed from the industry. The last full day of what had been an epic honeymoon in the bahamas. The carrolls enjoyed the sun and water and swimming with sharks. They loved it so much they decided to do one more shark swim but this time one shark got a lot closer than planned. A romantic caribbean honeymoon ending with this terrifying shark attack. Pretty much felt like my worst fear was coming true. Reporter sarah and evan carroll were celebrating their vows deciding to swim with sharks and evan recording the excursion. You see her swimming in the water. Her arm extends and then you can hear the shark clamp down on her arm. I thought maybe it was evan playing a prank on me. Reporter very quickly she realized this was no joke. I was able to turn my head and just kind of look in the actual direction and saw that it was the shark and thats when it starred to really hurt and i just tried to break my arm down and swim away. Reporter after getting free from the shark you see evan help sarah get back to the dock and out of the water. Sarah posting pictures of her arm showing the swollen teeth marks then showing it bandaged up. Bite marks are like razor cut, very clean and very sharp so made for a quick heal. Reporter nurse sharks are known to be easygoing, not aggressive. The couch potato of the shark world. But while nurse shark attacks are very uncommon they are not unheard of. Even though youre just swim ago long and these, you know, sharks typically dont behave that way, you can always appear like food and theres always room for misunderstanding when were were in their home. Luckily it was our last day and would like to try it again. Despite that the couple says this wont keep them from swimming with sharks again. They are home now from their honeymoon. Their main concern making sure her arm doesnt get infected but totally plan to do it again. What did they learn from it. I think its the arm towards the shark that may have felt she was food. Would you do it . No, and if it happened once i definitely would not do it again. Oriy they swam close to a dock so i think probably that might factor in. I took my kids swimming with sharks and its le shark, its not a problem and always had a big fear with them. I thought i was conquering my fear but i am not going to do it again. Its their home. They have exploded in prevalence costing consumers hundred, sometimes thousands of dollars and the wor part is the tactics these criminals are using. They make it look like your computer has a legitimate problem, a virus, malware when really theres no problem at all. Youve got your fire wall and Antivirus Protection on your computer. So youre safe, right . Well, not quite. A new report from the Better Business bureau says theres been an alarming in people victimized by Computer Tech scams. Thieves posing as technicians claiming they can Fix Computers when, in fact, theres nothing to fix. Their scare tactics make people believe they have to act immediately and anyone is a target. Ome on. Reporter 29yearold amy sowell fell victim to the scam on her microsoft pc a month ago, a popup claimed her computer was infected with a virus. If i exited out of the popup, wld lose of my data on my hard drive so i called the number which said they were a microsoft partner so i didnt think twice about calling t number. Reporter she then gave them permission to gain control of her computer and soon the fake technician on the line convinced her to pay 150 to fix the problem. I had this gut feeling that something just wasnt quite right. So i googled microsoft partner and i found out that they were a scam. Reporter the Better Business bureau says popup emails similar to this are sent to victims. This is so common i think its a matter for all of us not whether well be contacted by a tech support fraud but when. Reporter steve baker is lead investigator on the Better Business Bureau Report on tech scams. A lot of victims never complain to law enforcement. A lot of people dope even know theyve been ripped off. Reporter microsoft reports receiving 12,000 complaints every month telling abc news whenever you receive an unsoliciteded phone call or see a popup on your computer, dont take the risk, just hang up or close your browser. If you need tech support reach out to our Technical Support experts at the microsoft answer desk . So thats some advice right there but as he said this is super common. How do we protect ourselves. Microsoft says theyre never going to reach out to you with an email or a popup or a phone call to say you have a virus. The best thing you can do if you spot a popup on your computer do not click on it. If your screen freezes on your computer rather than clicking around or trying to fix it, shut the computer down immediately aned out to, if you think there is a scam bureau, ftc or iately, better microsoft and if there is really a problem with your computer, rather than dealing with somebody online go to a store. You could go to a best buy or a microsoft store, microsoft even has a support side, support. Microsoft. Com where you can ask legitimate questions of legitimate people. All right. Now shes rummaging through the mini fridge and sees some cookie dough and now shes eating some cookie dough. Reporter but this Holiday Season it may be time to ditch the dough. The fda says it isnt just the raw eggs that can make you sick but the flour. The concern is that the specific flour that comes from a grain that was contaminated with a bacteria, e. Coli, and that has the potential to cause unanimous illness. Reporter they linked an e. Coli out break to flour. Others just handled it. 10 Million Pounds were recalled. Look at any flour you have in the house and see if it was on the fdas list of recalled flour. If it was, i would throw that flour away. If you have flour that youve subsequently put out of that bag and into a different container and dont know probably the safest thing go ahead and throw that away. Reporter the bottom line, raw dough is a risk but there is good news, experts say there is a way to make it edible but only if you take important step, one, skip the eggs altogether and two, bake the dry flour in the oven before adding it to the batter and then enjoy. What does that mean . Take something you have and use it as something else. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. So one of the first ideas with upcycling is taking these plastic ornaments you might have at home and adding like a napkin ring or shower ring to stand up straight. Youre not going to stand if you dont do this so you get a napkin ring and dmrup it to the boom and have a little cocktail. A very festive. Cook a we put cotton candy and poured in sparkling water. You could pour in champagne if you want to go crazy. So fun. You can buy a box of these or i dont know that use old ones but they are very upcycling. You would use old ones. Setting the odmo.
