Now, Officials Say the driver of a 2017 nissan arm mad today struck a man as he was crossing the street. That victim later died at the hospital. Authorities are investigating. Also developing overnight, take a look at this scene from Anne Arrundel county. Police say a driver plowed th this happened on eagle wood road in annapolis just before midnight. Two people were taken to the hospital with lifethreatening injuries. Its unclear at this time if the driver was among those hospitalized. Police on the hunt for a group of bold thieves wanted in connection with a string of burglaries that happened across the d. C. Area. Theyre shoving them into trash cans and walking out of the store. No one hurt. December 3rd, 11 48 another mobile phone store. They tell everyone to get down, 1300 block of pennsylvania avenue again making off with trash cans full of loot. On december 5th, 4 55 in the morning a Clothing Store on h street. Now, this is where Police Notice the suspects were driving a stolen church van that was taken from garfield heights. That van has since been recovered. Now, police were able to isolate and enlarge individual images of the suspects so you can see here a little bit closer look at their faces though in some cases they were Wearing Masks or hats, police do believe that people who know these individuals may be able to identify them so they certainly are asking folks to take a look at these videos. We have so many problems on the roads, guys, trying to figure out whats the most important. Take a look at the beltway. We have an inner loop crash and an outer loop crash. Skyfox over the inner loop. This is before the riggs road overpass there. Two left lanes blocked with a crash involving a tractortrailer and several other vehicles. This is causing delays well past New Hampshire avenue as you try to get to 95. Sole, big problems in college park this morning. Outer loop were getting reports of a crash closer to colesville road so caution there. Well switch it over from skyfox and go ahead and take a look at our maps this morning. Wanted to show you a look right now. This is the delay on 395 southbound from the third street tunnel to the pentagon, 14 minute trip there. A lot of heavy volume. Lets go ahead and take a live look outside. That is because of this tractortrailer crash. It was previously overturned out by clark street and as you can see, its a milk truck. They got it turned upright. Looks like they have a little bit of debris to clear off the road there. Its blocking two left lanes. 395 southbound. So again traffic is backed up past as you come off the 11th Street Bridge onto 695 through the navy yard youll hit big delays trying to get south to the pentagon on 395. So, keep that in mind. You can always keep it to your secondaries like pennsylvania avenue or independence avenue to get around some of those bigger delays. Want to take it back to our maps because this is unfortunately not the only other problem were dealing with. Already that delay creeped back up to 17 minutes from the third street tunnel to the pentagon. As we take a look there, you can see that backing up 295 southbound towards pennsylvania avenue. Pennsylvania avenue has a lot of bailout traffic and 295 northbound delays are spilling onto that from the beltway on through as you too it try to get onto the 11th Street Bridge. That area dealing with a ton of extra congestion. Northbound 395 typical delays. 95 northbound in dale city at Prince William parkway crash blocks the Left Shoulder part of the left lane and if youre taking metro this morning, expect delays to shady grove. New this morning, a shocking report involving one of marylands most prominent hospitals. Former supervisor at Johns Hopkins health now accusing the medical system of prioritizing out of state patients over maryland residents. The lawsuit was filed yesterday. It claims hopkins favored out of state patients over locals to increase revenue. Now Late Wednesday night, Johns Hopkins released a statement saying that the complaint is without merit. A lot of attention on one of the president s top advisers and former contestant Omarosa Manigault newman following her abrupt resignation from the white house. Yeah, there are a number of reports she was actually fired as she had been fired 13 years ago which she was a contestant on apprentice with then host and producer donald trump. The wall street journal is reporting that omarosa had to be physically dragged and escorted off the property on tuesday after she was fired. The deal is that apparently she had clashed with white house chief of staff john kelly for some time. She, omarosa was Communications Director for the office of public liaison, was one of the top africanamerican advisers to the president , had access to the oval office pretty much at will before over as chief of staff. What precipitated the apparent dustup on tuesday were not sure. Theres talk that she was not happy with the president s support of roy moore in the alabama special election for the u. S. Senate, but according to a number of reports, when omarosa was fired on tuesday, she went to ivanka trump to appeal that. That apparently did not go well and thats when she reportedly went to the residence of the white house, seeking out the president himself which apparently set off alarm bells and again, according to a number of sources she had to be physically dragged and there are reports that she was, you know, kicking and screaming and had to be escorted off the property. The secret service says they did not physically remove omarosa from the white house grounds, that all it did was deactivate her card key, her access. Omarosa is apparently going to Say Something about this publically this morning and when she does, well have that part of the story guys. This has been a very close race and we are waiting certification by the secretary of state. Officials say the body of state representative dan johnson was found near a bridge with self inflicted gunshot wound. Shot himself. This death comes a day after he denied reports that he kissed and fondled then 17yearold a then 17yearold back in 2013. The accuser said the assault happened in a living area of a church where johnson was the pastor. Hours before his death, he posted a message on facebook asking people to care for his wife. He also suggested he had been suffering from ptsd. The tavis smiley show a mid allegations of Sexual Misconduct by the talk show host n a statement the organization said, inquiry uncovered multiple credible allegations of misconduct or conduct i should say that are inconsistent with the values and standards of the public broadcasting system. Steve, over to you. 7 31. Tuesday special election in alabama may shake up the political playbook for both republicans and democrats. As we head toward the 2018 mid term elections. Lets talk about more. Joining us today prick today farley. Before joining au she was state senator in ohio for ten years. Serving as a democrat. Good to see you this morning. Absolutely. Good morning. When you break this down and he with trying to through all the demographic break downs yesterday and the age break downs. What did you find really stood out the most from what actually, you know, put him in office . I think theres no question that there are two factors. Theyre both down to turn out. The first being that i think that there were a number of, you know, more traditional republicans that stood home. Obviously alabama is a deep rode state. But there were, you know, i think a number of people concerned about roy moore and all the controversy surrounding him, and elected to state home. You have a group that stayed home and you had a group that real turn out that was the Africanamerican Community particularly africanamerican believe 98 for doug jones whose now now the senator elect. Right. When we talk about that the stay home or the turn out whichever you want to look at it, its interesting when we look at that because that may be what we draw from this as to where we go in 2018 with the mid terms really now it comes down to turn out. Thats right. Making sure you reach your base. Why did so many republicans traditional republicans in your opinion stay home and not go to the polls . I think there was general concern obviously about the controversy surrounding roy moore. Now heres a man who had already been kicked off of the Alabama Supreme Court twice hooks had some pretty extreme views on number of issues from muslims serving in congress to the Jewish Community to the Lgbt Community, et cetera, obviously, the mounting allegations of Sexual Assault and misconduct with underaged girls and i think that was kind of the straw that broke the camels back, and so i think rather than vote for a democrat, that did not share some of their, you know loll values, they decided to stay home as the alternative. What is the message republican or democrat fort next person who runs for office well see as we ramp up to next year . Were on the threshold of 2018. What is the message for these candidates . Hit that behar gosh at it a different way . What are we learning from these elections weve scene in 2017 . Well, i think theres a handful of thing. I mean i think that roy moore and this situation in alabama isnt really something that can be translated across to 218 with one exception, and that is, investing in turn out operation, identifying the voters that are maybe lower propensity voters ones that show dont show up to the polls that frequently that you believe are going to vote with your candidate, and investing there. There was a lot of outside money that was spent in alabama by both democrats and republicans more so by democrats. But i think that investing in that get out the vote operation making sure you appropriately target those voters and then get them to the polls will make the difference in 2018. You campaigned many times yourself. Youve helped with does it take for voter to be motivate idea that voter who may not normally go out and vote. Does it really take Something Like outrage against the other candidate to get them to come out, and the reason i say that is, are we going to see really nasty campaigns in 2018 with people trying to fine worst things they can about other people . You know i think its going to be funny to see what happens next with that, because the nastiness i think has actually depressed the vote in some way, shape or form. So i think, as we saw for example in virginia here locally to an extent that some of the back and forth between those two candidates that was negative i think backfired. So with these 24 hour news cycles turning 22nd news cycles, you know, people do tend towards the lowest common dee nominate unfortunately on social media especially. Right. But i dont think thats the way to go going forward. I do think that there will be a focus for example on some of the policy issues like the tax bill that obviously is threshold of being signed into law now. Right. As well as part of that being the repeal of the Obamacare Tax for the individual mandate. So, you know, i think those things might be attacked. Final thing. Democrats can look at this what weve scene in the last couple of months and say new jersey, virginia now alabama. Right. Three democrats that won high profile positions. Right. This must be a mandate against donald trump. Can we take any similarity from those threes races or all separately worked in their own way . I think that theyre all separate, but there is one i think consistency at least between virginia and alabama and that again is where did the voters turn out . And when you look at alabama and virginia, you know, the suburban voters in virginia really turn out very strongly. And i think that contributed to the Democratic Victory there for governor. Which was a hold. But alabama same thing with turn out but again their controversy, you know, i think really set them apart. New jersey already a blue state. That was no surprise there at all. That is because of the crash by 95. So the inner loop is basically at a standstill outer loop crawling along as well colesville road just before the beltway there was a crash as well. Huge delays 395 north and southbound earlier overturned truck cleared by clark street. Overflow traffic 295 southbound parked the northbound side park as well. I wasnt originally supposed to interview Steven Spielberg he has a new movie coming out call the post on december 22nd. Hell be in dc for the world pre mary along with tom hanks and meryl streep. And you will be there. Ill be there as well. Heres the crazy thing. I got the initial invite to cover this film in new york city and spielbergs name wasnt on the list so i reached out and i have a relationship over the years with spielbergs like producers and everybody at fox, and i asked them, is there any way i could just possibly get in there for a couple of minutes, a couple questions. So they somehow got it approved by his tea only regional people in the country to have spoken with him. Oneonone. Now, one thing you have you know to know about Steven Spielberg hes the film maker who wants the audience to collaborate with him when watching a movie he designs every single shot so that you are also kind of the film maker as well. He wants you to be editing the film while youre watching it with him. I spoke to him about why he designs certain shots. If youre familiar with the story its about the pentagon papers being published by the Washington Post in the early 70s. Tom hanks play character named ben bradley who was the exec tough editor and meryl streep plays kay the publisher. I wanted to know why he designed certain shots around them and why they were speaking to each in a certain way and also stay to the end of this interview for interaction between spielberg and i i didnt know was going to happen. Watch this. I wanted to know the first time we actually see tom hanks and meryl streep at that table in the restaurant,ou the moment she knocks over the chair to the table and im curious as film maker and story teller what you wanted to convey in that long unbroken tracking shot before you edit and made a cut . I did a lot of coverage on that scene. I had over shoulder shots, over tom to meryl, meryl to tom, i had singles i expect the spent the whole day covering it when i shot the master, meaning i shot the whole scene in one shot, i realized that there was something that the camera that eventually came around and created a kind of, you know, parody between ben bradley and catherine graham. Ben bradley was on the left of the screen and catherine gallon ham was on the right of the screen a very equal and fare shot that showed the dynamic of their relationship. And when i had first initially put the scene together and i did it conventionally with cuts, it didnt ring true as much as a kind of theatrical stage play where t there and they do all editing. You go to a play and youre the editor. You decide who to look at and when to look at them. When an actor compels to you Pay Attention to them you watch them more than the other actor i fell this should be more like theater when they first meet we should see the theater of that dynamic between the publisher of the post and the editor of the post having this breakfast where they dont agree on very much and i thought it was much stronger to letting them play the hell out of the scene in two shot. Im curious now that weve seen so many films going into digital age, what is it about film that still in your opinion is so magical and why you shot the post on 35 and continuing to do that . Well, you know, digital photography is a science, and film photographer is a chemical miracle. Huh. When i say chemical miracle, it is. You never quite know what youll get after the film goes takes a bath. And exposes the positive from the negative, and when you get to see the print based on y negative, theres a lot of things that surprises me it always looks different. Always looks real. Theres grain, number one, and the grain is always moving. Its swimming which means that even in the still live of lets say a flour on a table that flour is alive even though its not moving because the film itself,. 3d. Also, overnight, two people are seriously hurt after a pickup truck slammed into the side of a building in anne arundel county. This happen just before midnight on eagle wood road in annapolis. The string started on december 1st you got to check this out. Here its 9 19 in the morning the robbers should have somebody as they walk into the sprint store on benning road gone to the back safe. Literally just emptying out i phones no a trash can and walking out of the store. December 3rd, another mobile phone store 11 48 in the morning they tell everyone to get down. This is the 1300 block of pennsylvania avenue, again, making off with boxes and trash cans full of mobile phones and other electronics and then on december 5th, 4 55 in the morning, break into the store on eighth street. Making off with arm loads full of very expensive highend coats. That white van were told stolen from youngs Christian Memorial Church in garfield heights. That van has sips been recovered. Police were able to isolate enlarge vidimus matches of the suspect those they were Wearing Masks and hats the men may be identifiable to people who know them and these this point at large. Southbound side earlier overturned tractor trailer cleared by clark street but that has really overflowed traffic. 295 southbound, 295 northbound and the inner loop side of things super jammed up, 66 eastbound through arlington. Really slow and gw parkway at a standstill from 123 down to the key bridge. As we take a look at 95 this is a northbound side coming up from the bottom side of the beltway to the 11th Street Bridge. It will take you an hour and five minutes seeing really jammed gridlock traffic on lot of our majors unfortunately really just rough conditions. If youre taking metro, red line dealing with signal problem outside van ness delays to shady grove. So a how extra time there. And then as we move things over, once again, 270 southbound just about 22 minute trip f the bell way. Its a little heavy but people cant even make it to the inner loop so because the beltway is so jammed up, 270 not getting the worst of this morning. Eastbound 66234 to the beltway, 39 minute trip not terrible. And then as we take a look at that 395 northbound thats 16 minute trip i was telling you about you can see the freeway is completely stacked off of 295. Through the third street tunnel.
