YORK, Maine — Get your beach blankets ready and practice your "oohs" and "aahs" because this Independence Day will feature two firework shows in York.
Following last year's canceled fireworks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, York Beach Fire Department Chief Jeffrey Welch announced Thursday, May 27, that this year's displays are a go.
The announcement may receive a warm welcome from those who missed grilling hot dogs at the beach, calming their anxious pets down, or simply watching dazzling bursts of light magically appear in the sky.
Fireworks are scheduled to take place if guidance from the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention and local health officials remain the same as they currently stand, Welch said.
