(Photo courtesy of Zamboanga CIO) ZAMBOANGA CITY - The city government's coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination campaign will shift its focus on barangays with high infection rates as it continues the conduct of mobile inoculation activities. Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said Monday the move forms part of the city government's effort to reach the 70-percent population immunity at the soonest possible time. "With the continuous supply of vaccines from the national government, the city plans to focus vaccination in barangays with the highest infection rate as well as to conduct mobile vaccination activities (this week)," Miravite said. The Covid-19 data tracker showed that 20 of this city's 98 barangays have registered a high number of active cases as of Saturday, October 23. On top of the list was Barangay Tumaga with 180 active cases, while at the bottom was Barangay Mampang with 46 cases. As of Saturday, this city has registered a total of 20,021 confirmed cases, with 16,654 recoveries, 2,486 active cases, and 881 deaths. Miravite also said that the vaccination registration for children aged 12 to 17 is ongoing. The registration is in preparation for the conduct of pediatric vaccination depending on the guidelines from the Department of Health (DOH), according to Miravite. Meanwhile, she said that a total of 412,027 doses of vaccines have been administered in this city, as of October 23. The majority of those who got their second dose or were fully vaccinated were individuals with comorbidities or under the A3 priority group, at 60,859. The rest are frontline personnel in the essential sector (A4), 48,216; senior citizens (A2), 32,194; workers in front-line health services (A1), 16,021; indigent population, 14,378; and B1 to B6, 95. The B1 to B6 priority groups include teachers, and social workers, B1; other government workers, B2; other essential workers, B3; socio-demographic groups at significantly higher risk other than senior citizens and poor population based on the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR), B4; Overseas Filipino Workers, B5; and, other remaining workforce, B6.
