Mother of Mikayla Miller demands transparent investigation, forensics of item found on daughter’s body during Hopkinton vigil Updated 10:29 PM; 25 Facebook Share Only the hum of a helicopter and the cry of a baby could be heard on the Hopkinton Town Common as hundreds of people stood in silence Thursday in memory of 16-year-old Mikayla Miller. The vigil and rally drew a sizable crowd in response to the death of Miller, a teenager whose life was cut short far too early. “Nothing I say today is going to take away the pain that we all are experiencing in this new world without Mikayla, but my hope is that by sharing a little about her life, our life, it will help you get to know more about her,” Miller’s mother, Calvina Strothers, said at the rally.

FRAMINGHAM The deep discord between Mayor Yvonne Spicer’s office and members of the City Council was on display again during a listening session on reimagining the city’s businesses post-pandemic. At the conclusion of the forum which was broadcast Thursday on Zoom  a hot microphone picked up a conversation between Jennique Horrigan, Spicer’s executive assistant, and the mayor. During the conversation, Horrigan accused District 4 City Councilor Michael Cannon of flooding the Zoom chat with questions and comments. “What killed me was Mr. Cannon flooding the chat room,” Horrigan said after the forum concluded. “This isn’t for you. You’re not a business owner.”

FRAMINGHAM, MA For the second month in a row, Framingham Mayor Yvonne Spicer s campaign fundraising has been relatively flat, according to new filings. In March, Spicer took in $625 from three donors. The biggest donation in March came from Linda Champion, an attorney and realtor who ran for the Suffolk County District Attorney seat in 2018. In February, Spicer raised $0, but took in about $13,000 between December and January, boosting her reelection account to more than $30,000. Spicer also hasn t been spending any money. Her campaign has spent under $1,000 over the last four months, mostly on monthly charges for tech services.
