In a world where COVID might still be laying waste to
holiday plans and careers on the stage, Ara Institute of
Canterbury Ltd is doing its best to prepare people for a new
post-COVID economy - and get them onboard with rising
synergies between state-of-the art tech and primary
industries.
In recent months there has also been much
discussion about industries globally that have taken a
harder hit than most during the COVID-19 emergency. Tourism,
retail and hospitality have all been featured in the media
as significantly impacted by anti-COVID measures but It’s

An Essential Media poll released today shows that 62 per
cent of Australians believe the Australian government should
support the effort to temporarily waive World Trade
Organisation patent rules for COVID-19 vaccines to enable
quicker and fairer access to vaccines for low-income
countries. There was majority support across Coalition,
Labor and Green voters. Only 10 per cent were opposed, with
27 per cent undecided. Full poll results including
methodology are attached.

Friends of the Earth, Amnesty International, the Australian
Fair Trade and Investment Network (AFTINET), the Australian
Council of Trade Unions, and Union aid Abroad

On June 16th at Ara’s Woolston Campus, a special
visitor made some time to inspire and inform female
students. Katie Thomas, an Ara graduate, engineer, and
all-round good sort, visited with a select group of other
future women tradies to share her insights into starting a
successful career in the trades. Trades are awesome.
One thing I enjoyed about getting into engineering is that
the culture is really cool. It s usually quite fun - the
boys can go a little bit over the top, but it’s a hell of

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing New Zealand has welcomed the
news that the next Best Bars Toyota 86 Championship winner
will also win a Supercar test with the ultra-successful
Triple Eight Race Engineering team.

The Waikato to Auckland Te Huia train service has
transported more than 11,000 passengers in its first three
months of operation.
It’s also proving extremely
popular with families in the first week of the school
holidays, with a 31 per cent increase in the number of
people on Te Huia already this week, compared with the daily
average from Monday to Friday.

service we knew it would take time for people to move out of
the car and into the train, but in just over three months
