Is it a truck? Or duck? USPS unveils new delivery vehicles

The U.S. Postal Service on Tuesday unveiled a new-generation vehicle coming to its fleet. The striking design — likened to a duck or “Pixar”-inspired car — is a major change from current delivery vehicles seen on the roads. Car and Driver called it a “visual abomination,” but probably better at

USPS Trucks: So Much for Looking Cool While You Deliver the Mail

Back when GM got its taxpayer-funded bailout, a fun idea occurred to me: If GM is a ward of the government, then that makes GM-owned Corvette ZR1s government vehicles. Therefore, I should deliver the mail in a Corvette ZR1. This was more than a decade ago, which means I was way out in front on the project to replace our nation s fleet of postal delivery vehicles. New Adorable USPS Trucks Set to Come to the Hudson Valley

The United States Postal Service trucks will be revamped in the future. On Tuesday, February 23, the United States Postal Service (USPS) announced a new multi-billion dollar contract to modernize the delivery vehicle fleet. According to a press release, they have awarded Oshkosh Defense a 10-year contract to manufacture a new generation of postal delivery vehicles. These vehicles will all be U.S.-built and it will be the most dramatic modernization of the USPS fleet in 30 years. Postmaster General and USPS CEO Louis DeJoy said in a press release: Our fleet modernization also reflects the Postal Service’s commitment to a more environmentally sustainable mix of vehicles. Because we operate one of the largest civilian government fleets in the world, we are committed to pursuing near-term and long-term opportunities to reduce our impact on the environment.”
