Suspect arrested in case of 15-year-old sexually assaulted in tent in Beacon Hill Park

The teenager is developmentally delayed and suffered what police call potentially life-altering injuries. Shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the park after a report that a teen had been assaulted and choked in a tent. Paramedics responding to a medical call about the teen alerted police when they learned the victim had been assaulted. When the officers arrived, they found a number of campers standing near the paramedics, “interfering with the victim’s medical treatment.” Victoria police say two responding officers were assaulted by people camping in the park, who obstructed the police investigation and interfered with attempts by paramedics to treat the teenager’s injuries. One officer was bitten, while another was spit upon, police said.

Victoria police arrest three suspects in downtown stabbing

Detectives with VicPD’s Major Crime Unit are investigating. Investigators believe it was a targeted incident and do not believe there is a risk to public safety. Police said they identified three suspects in the incident. Within an hour and a half, officers located and arrested one of the suspects in Bastion Square. Less than 20 minutes later, officers arrested a second suspect in the 1400-block of Vancouver Street. At about noon Tuesday, officers with VicPD’s Community Services Division located and arrested the third suspect in the 900-block of Pandora. All three men are being held in custody. Victoria police arrest man with history of sexual offences after women followed

A staff member locked the door to the store, but the man attempted to open the locked door to speak with the women, police said. The young women told officers the man followed them for several blocks and asked them to go somewhere with him. Despite the women asking him to leave them alone, the man continued to follow them. Officers located a suspect nearby who is known to police, with a history of convictions for sexual offences, including indecent acts. The man is facing recommended charges of criminal harassment, obstructing a peace officer and assault.
