The crime spree began shortly before 10 a.m., when the man broke into a suite in the 1800 block of Fern Street and stole several items, police said. Police then got a report that the same man had gone to the 1500 block of Pandora Avenue, where he tried to get into an occupied vehicle while armed with a knife. He was stymied by the person in the car, who locked the doors. The man tried to steal a nearby scooter, but ran away when a bystander stepped in. He then went to the 1400-block of Pandora, where he tried to get into another occupied vehicle. Police said he struck that vehicle several times and brandished his knife, but failed to get in and ran away.
VICTORIA Victoria police are seeking the public s assistance in locating a high-risk missing youth. Police are searching for Azia Gauthier, 17, who was last seen in downtown Victoria on July 1. Patrol officers are working to locate Azia and ensure that she is safe, said Victoria police in a release Wednesday. Gauthier is described as an Indigenous youth who stands 5 5 tall with a medium build. She has brown eyes and long brown hair. Anyone who spots her is asked to call 911 immediately. Otherwise, anyone with information on Gauthier s whereabouts is asked to call Victoria police at 250-995-7654 or anonymously contact Greater Victoria Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Victoria police are looking for witnesses after someone attempted to dig up and remove a statue of St. Francis in an Anglican church on Esquimalt Road on Saturday afternoon. Police were called to the church in the 1300-block of Esquimalt Road at 3 p.m. July 3 after a report of damage to the church.
