Nadda Slams Opposition Parties Over Criticism of New Farm Laws, Says They Suggested Reforms

BJP president J P Nadda on Thursday mounted a scathing attack on opposition parties over the new Central farm laws, saying though they had earlier promised agricultural reforms, they were now supporting those agitating against the Centre on the matter. The BJP chief s comments here came on a day when Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Madurai slammed the Centre over the contentious legislations, backing the farmers and saying that the union government will be forced to repeal the laws in the face of ryots stiff resistance.

Hyderabad: Former Minister & ex-Leader of Opposition in Telangana State Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir said that the 20,000 litres free water scheme launched by the Telangana Government in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) lacks clarity and aimed at misleading the people.
Shabbir Ali, in a media statement on Wednesday, said that the 20,000 litres free water scheme was being implemented with many riders and it would create more confusion than giving relief to the consumers. When all consumers are already metered water connections, why are they being asked to instal a new meter? he asked.

Over 170 new COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths reported in AP
AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh reported 179 new cases of coronavirus, 219 recoveries and four deaths in 24 hours on Thursday.
The COVID-19 table now shows a total of 8,85,616 positive cases, 8,76,140 recoveries and 7,138 deaths, according to the latest bulletin. The active cases fell to 2,338, it said.
Chittoor district reported the highest with 51 fresh cases, Guntur 26, East Godavari 17, Krishna 15 and Kurnool 13.
The remaining eight districts added less than 10 new cases each.
Chittoor, Guntur, Krishna and Visakhapatnam saw one fresh fatality each in a day.
After over 1.24 crore sample tests so far, the overall positivity rate came down to 7.09 per cent.
The opposition parties had assured in their own manifestos that farming reforms will be brought in, he said without naming anyone. They themselves wrote that APMC (Agricultural Produce Marketing committees) have to go or needs changes. They mentioned that Essential Commodities Act is an age-old law that needs to be amended, he said.
Nadda added that politics appeared so important to the opposition parties that they seemed to compromise on issues concerning the nation.
Their sole objective it appears is to support those who want to agitate against the Centre on the farm laws. They do not have the political will and courage to take decisions. It is Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has the will and courage to take bold decisions, but now they re trying to politicise the issue and are supporting the people who want to agitate, Nadda charged.
