Over 38,000 samples were put to test
Telangana recorded 331 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the total to 2,90,640. While 38,192 people were examined, results of 571 were awaited. Three more patients died of the infection.
The new cases include 61 from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, 28 from Medchal Malkajgiri, 25 from Karimnagar and 21 from Rangareddy.
No case was recorded in Jogulamba Gadwal, and one case each was detected in Narayanpet and Nirmal districts.
Of the total 38,192 persons who underwent testing for the novel coronavirus, 34,413 opted for government laboratories while the remaining 3,779 chose to get examined at private facilities,
KTR Launches Free Drinking Water Scheme In Hyderabad:- Telangana government and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao promised of free drinking water of 20,000 litres per family for the people of the state before the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls. KCR said that the scheme would be implemented in stages and will start from December last year. Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, IT and Commerce, Industries, KTR launched the free drinking water scheme in Greater Hyderabad today. The scheme will now be applicable for all the colonies, regions, bastis and the apartments across the limits of GHMC. Each family in the limits will be getting 20,000 litres of drinking water free of cost.

Hyderabad, Jan 12 : Fulfilling a major promise made in last month s elections to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, the TRS government in Telangana on Tuesday launched 20,000 liters free water scheme in Greater Hyderabad government. Minister for municipal administration and urban development K. T. Rama Rao formally launched the scheme at Rahmat Nagar in the city. The scheme is expected to benefit nine lakh families, who use less than 20,000 liters of water every month. The minister issued zero water bills to some beneficiaries on the occasion. He said though the scheme would put an additional burden of Rs.500 crore on the state exchequer, the government kept its promise.
