142 IN view of the change of regime in India and of the hope expressed by the new Viceroy that Indians would try at the outset to give faith to him until they found him undeserving of it, speculation has for some time been rife as to what attitude the leaders of the non-co-operation movement would take up towards His Excellency. It would seem that there is no room for a change of attitude, because the movement never purported to be and never was directed against individuals.
