High number of walk-ins reported at hotels used for mandatory quarantine
Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has confirmed that the Department of Health has paused taking bookings at mandatory quarantine hotels.
Mr Donnelly said it was due to a problem with walk-ins or people who simply turn up rather than having booked online before departure.
Speaking on RTÉ s Six One News, he said that on a precautionary basis, his department has paused bookings to ensure there is capacity.
He said there was still a high level of walk-ins and this should not be happening.
The minister said that a number of airlines were allowing some people to board planes when they should not be doing so and Minister Eamon Ryan is engaging with carriers about this.

As of Monday, passengers arriving in Ireland from Albania, Israel and the Caribbean island of Saint Lucia will no longer be required to observe mandatory hotel quarantine.
