Ontario sets new one-day record for COVID-19 cases; 345 new cases in Ottawa

HPEPH reporting 20 new COVID-19 cases as province redirects some doses set for Quinte

Ontario reported a new record high number in daily COVID-19 cases today. Health Minister Christine Elliot says the province has 4,736 new cases. Ontario’s COVID-19 science advisory table adds that variants make up of about 65 percent of all the new cases right now. There are 1,932 COVID-19 patients in hospital, with 659 of those people in ICUs. The province says that roughly 442 are on a ventilator. Hastings Prince Edward Public Health added an additional 20 COVID-19 cases to the list today, with 22 recoveries. There are now a total of 148 active cases, a number that’s been dropping for the last couple of days. There are 13 people being treated in hospital with the virus, with five in ICU and one on a ventilator.
