Prior to the strike on June 9, it was agreed that anyone who required a patient attender (patients who require constant attention and supervision) must receive one, as a “minimum requirement for safety”, the union said.

An Auckland nurse who falsified and forged notes, lied about checking on her young patients and failed to give them their medicine has had her nursing registration cancelled for three years.
The nurse, who has 24 years experience, had been working on the night shifts at Starship Hospital when two parents of the young patients and two colleagues complained about the level of care given by her over a period of five-and-a-half weeks.

The centre run by Ngāti Whātua Ōrakei is based in the suburb of St Johns.
Ngāti Whātua Ōrakei trust board member Tama Davis said they hoped to bolster the number of people from Māori, Pacific and other minority communities getting vaccinated.
Davis, who is also an Auckland District Health Board member, said they hoped to provide up to 150 vaccinations a day.
Tama Davis says the new Covid-19 vaccination centre is run by iwi, for iwi.

The centre started with a trial run last week offering vaccinations to dozens of kuia and kaumātua, and will open to the public on Wednesday.

Limna Polly, 35, is traumatized by the sound of her baby boy dropping onto the hospital floor due to Auckland City Hospital’s medical staff not assisting her while giving birth.
