The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has won a bronze award in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2021; organized virtually by Indonesia.
The Saudi informatics national team’s made its debut in the
Olympiad; which saw the presence of 35 countries.
Fares Bin Ibrahim Basiouni; a student at Education Department of the
Royal Commission for Yanbu; won the bronze award among participants representing the most powerful countries in the Asia-Pacific region in the field of informatics; such as Japan;
China and Russia.
This year; APIO 2021 was hosted again by Indonesia. For most of the participating countries; APIO 2021 serves as one of the main “TST”s (Team Selection Tests) for IOI 2021.

Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) 2021, the Ministry of Education and

With two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals, Vietnam ranked fourth among
the 35 participating countries and territories at the event, following China,
Iran, and Japan.
This result is the best compared to Vietnam’s performance at the previous APIOs,
the ministry noted.
