Some notable measures on the election ballot were a $192 million bond proposal from Kentwood Public Schools for infrastructure and tech upgrades, a Grand Haven Township $6.1 million bond proposal for park improvements, largely, to develop Schmidt Heritage Park, and a Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency request to renew the county’s 1.5-mill special education tax.

Ottawa County Veteran Expo returning virtually in June GRAND HAVEN The Ottawa County Veteran Expo is returning in a new format this year, after the event was canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.  The Honor Rewards Veteran Expo will return June 5, and the Ottawa County Clerk and Register of Deeds office will be posting videos to their social media of veterans receiving medals for their time served, panel discussions, and other featured productions to recognize those who served. No registration is required for the event, which is free for the community. U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Zeeland, will distribute medals to veterans and family members who have not received theirs for their service.
