The second wave of coronavirus is all set to have an adverse impact on Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC). In the wake of an increase in the number of coronavirus positive cases, people are reluctant to travel by buses to reach their destinations.
Most of the people are preferring either their own vehicles or taxis. As a result, the occupancy ratio in the APSRTC buses has plunged on a drastic note. There are a total of 11,000 services in APSRTC but only 7,000 services are running which makes it 30%

As per the government decision, ratified by the Cabinet that met on Tuesday, no public or private transport would be allowed to operate in the State after 12 noon from Wednesday. All inter-State bus operations have been cancelled.
“It s a very tricky situation for the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC). We have to cater to the transport needs of the common man, but at the same time, we need to think of our feeble economic condition as well,” said corporation’s Vice-Chancellor and Managing Director R.P. Thakur. Taking a dynamic view of the situation, the corporation officials were trying to strike a fine balance.

The second wave of coronavirus pandemic has hit the operations of private travel operators in the State as many of them have cancelled services due to poor occupancy.
According to sources, nearly 1,000 private buses are plying from Andhra Pradesh to the neighbouring States. Nearly 20 operators are running non-AC, air-conditioned, sleeper and semi-sleeper buses.
They have their offices at Hanumanpeta, Police Control Room, Benz Circle, Lenin Centre, Gandhi Nagar, K.R. Market, Bhavanipuram, Gollapudi, Ibrahimpatnam and other places in Vijayawada.

Hyderabad, April 27 : Veteran Congress leader and former Andhra Pradesh minister M. Satyanarayana Rao passed away early Tuesday at a hospital in Hyderabad, his family members said.
Popularly known as MSR, he was 87. He is survived by wife, two daughters and two sons.
MSR, who also served as a member of Parliament for three terms, had tested positive for Covid-19 and was admitted to Nizam s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) on Sunday.
He was kept on ventilator after his condition turned critical. He breathes his last at 3.45 a.m. on Tuesday.
