64 Arrested, 2 Women Rescued During Sex Trafficking Operation in California Sixty-four people were arrested and two women were rescued in an anti-human trafficking sting in California’s Riverside County, officials said. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said the arrests were part of Operation Reclaim and Rebuild, which is an annual statewide operation. The sting “ran for four consecutive days before concluding on January 28, 2021,” the department said in a Feb. 2 statement. “The task force arrested 61 males and one female for solicitation of prostitution, one male for soliciting a minor for lewd purposes, and one male for supervising/aiding a person to commit prostitution,” according to the statement.

The men, who were arrested Tuesday, are accused of meeting to discuss and participate in multiple illegal races between January and May 2020, according to the Orange County District Attorney s Office and Irvine Police Department. “Orange County roads are not raceways designed to accommodate illegal street races of speeds reaching 160 miles per hour, Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said.

Nearly $500,000 in cash and bank accounts was recovered during the District Attorney’s investigation in conjunction with the fraudulent activity being carried out by that business. Tatiana Rita Turner, a Black Lives Matter supporter and protest organizer from Long Beach, has now been charged with 13 felonies for the two attacks, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. Another Orange County Inmate Dies of COVID Complications A second Orange County inmate died Jan. 21 from COVID-19 related complications, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) said. The 37-year-old man who was booked by the Fullerton Police Department in 2017 on suspicion of homicide and attempted murder tested positive for the virus last December. He was transferred to a local hospital Jan. 6, but died of medical complications about two weeks later. Prior to being hospitalized, he was an inmate at Santa Ana’s Intake Release Center. The man, whose name has not been released, was the second inmate to die from the virus since the pandemic began last March.
