Continuing its record upward trend, India has reported 2,73,810 new COVID-19 cases, 1,619 fatalities, and 1,44,178 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the health ministry data showed on Monday, April 19. The total cases stand at 1,50,61,919, including 19,29,329 active cases and 1,29,53,821 recoveries. A total of 1,78,769 patients have died since the pandemic hit India. In its fight against coronavirus, India has vaccinated 12,38,52,566 people so far.

NEW DELHI: With the unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases, the national capital is facing shortage of beds as daily positivity rate has jumped to 30 per cent, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal told the media after reviewing the COVID situation here on Sunday. There is a shortage of ICU beds in Delhi. At present less than one hundred ICU beds are available in Delhi. There is a shortage of oxygen too, Kejriwal said. The Delhi Chief Minister has appealed to the Centre for more beds for COVID-19 patients and additional help during the second wave of the pandemic.

New Delhi [India], April 19 (ANI): Amid the spike in the COVID-19 cases, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday interacted with leading doctors from across the country through video conferencing regarding the situation of the pandemic in the country.
Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan and Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya were also present at the meeting.
Apart from the meeting with the doctors, the Prime Minister will be interacting with top pharma companies in the country at 6 am today. The meeting will be held virtually.
In the COVID-19 review meeting on April 17, PM Modi had stressed that there is no substitute for testing, tracking and treatment.
