Patna: The wife of a COVID-19 patient, who succumbed in a private hospital in Patna on May 8, has alleged that a doctor there had molested her, while the hospital administration deliberately switched off the oxygen supply in the ICU, to force people to buy oxygen cylinders, and this caused her husband`s death. On April 9, the health of my husband Raushan Chandra deteriorated and we conducted his RT-PCR test which came negative. As his health condition was not improving, we got him admitted to a private hospital in Bhagalpur. He underwent RT-PCR tests twice again which came negative. As doctors were not attending to him properly, we consulted a doctor in Noida. During a video chat, he suggested my husband undergo a CT-scan of his chest. When we did the CT-scan, 60 per cent of infections were found in his lung. Soon after the report, we consulted the doctors of the hospital, who referred him to a hospital in Mayaganj in Bhagalpur for better treatment.

Sharing her plight, the woman said that the entire family, living in Noida, came to Bhagalpur to celebrate Holi, and decided to stay back as Covid cases began increasing across the country. Patna: A day after the Patna high court slammed the Bihar government for its poor handling of the second wave of the pandemic and sought to know whether it was enforcing lockdown or not, the administration on Tuesday announced imposition of lockdown from May 5 to May 15.
The decision was made at the meeting of the Crisis Management Group presided over by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

COVID-19: Bihar to receive 16 lakh vaccine doses in May, says state health minister Mangal Pandey

As the third phase of the COVID-19 vaccination kicked off across India, all the adults aged 18 and above lined up at various vaccination centers to take their first jab. Although, many states have already flagged off shortage of vaccines and postponed the program for the age group. Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey said that the vaccination (for people above 18 years of age) will start as soon as the state receives new stock of vaccine.
The state will be receiving around 16 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses in May out of which 11.89 lakh doses of Covishield and 4.14 lakh doses of Covaxin.
