Photo for representative purpose only GUWAHATI: Assam government will utilize the contribution of over Rs 100 crore made by people of the state to help the state government combat Covid-19 pandemic to purchase vaccines for general people if Centre does not bear the entire cost. State health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Centre will bear the cost of vaccines required for only the 2.9 lakh registered beneficiaries from two categories health care workers (HCWs) and frontline workers (FLWs) of the state, who will be vaccinated in the first two phases starting from Saturday. The third phase of vaccination will be for people of 50 years of age and above and those with morbidities of any age. After the completion of the vaccination of these three prioritized groups, vaccination will be carried out for the general people.
