Minister inspects progress of work at National Health Incident Command Center  01 Apr 2021 - 14:53 The Peninsula Doha: HE Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister for Public Health, today visited the National Health Incident Command Center (NHICC) at Hamad Medical Corporation’s Ambulance Service headquarters. During the visit, the Minister inspected the progress of work at the Center, which operates 24/7, and met with teams on duty from HMC and Primary Health Care Corporation. The NHICC works closely with the Ministry of Public Health and other key agencies in Qatar coordinating the healthcare system’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The NHICC oversees the COVID-19 bed management and hospital capacity strategy. This hub ensures that the healthcare system has sufficient capacity to provide high-quality treatment to all patients with COVID-19 who require medical care.

Al Wakra Hospital emergency to close; care for COVID-19 patients

 01 Apr 2021 - 18:32 The Peninsula Online Doha: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) announced on Twitter that the Al Wakra Emergency Department will be closed from tomorrow midnight. As part of the healthcare sector’s measures to boost hospital capacity and meet increasing demand due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases, Al Wakra Hospital has been designated as a facility to care for COVID-19 patients, HMC said in a tweet.  HMC also added that due to this, Al Wakra Hospital’s Emergency Department will be closed. This decision will be effective from midnight Friday, April 2. In the same tweet, HMC also mentioned that people in Al Wakra and other parts of Qatar requiring urgent and emergency medical services should select one of the following alternatives:

A war of words between the MNA and Framingham Union Hospital

FRAMINGHAM The state’s largest nurses union claims management at Framingham Union Hospital has threatened to fire any nurse on its staff who joins a picket line of striking nurses at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.  Officials at MetroWest Medical Center, which includes Framingham Union and Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick, called the charge “preposterous. MetroWest Medical Center and St. Vincent are both owned by for-profit Tenet Healthcare Corporation in Dallas. “Tenet Healthcare Corporation will do anything to protect their profit margin,” said David Schildmeier, spokesman at the Massachusetts Nurses Association, speaking in regards to alleged threats against nurses at Framingham Union.
