Cenovus Foster Creek had a COVID-19 outbreak declared at its site by Alberta Health Services, making it the second oil sands operation in the Cold Lake area to be impacted by the coronavirus.
Imperial Cold Lake is also still listed on the AHS website as an outbreak spot, having had 13 workers test positive in November.

Sonja Franklin, a spokeswoman for Cenovus, did not say how many workers tested positive for COVID-19 at Foster Creek.
For a work camp to be declared an outbreak site there has to be five or more cases, according to the AHS website. Other workplaces, like office buildings, are listed as outbreaks when there are 10 or more cases.

The 2021 budget estimate is N211 billion higher than the N10.594 trillion of the 2020 budget passed by the legislature in December 2019, before it was revised to N10.509 trillion against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Anambra Government yesterday said that no fewer than 28,246 indigent indigenes in the state would soon benefit from its special healthcare scheme.
State commissioner for Health Dr Vincent Okpala, made the disclosure during a news conference to commemorate the 2020 International Universal Health Coverage Day marked annually on December 12.
The International Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day was set aside by the United Nations in 2012 to raise awareness of the need for strong, equitable and resilient health systems for all.
The theme of the programme is “Health for All: Protect Everyone”.
Okpala said that enrollment into the scheme, which will start on January 4, was part of government’s efforts at making universal health coverage a reality in the state.
Dubai: Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is encouraging those who plan to travel to ensure they take necessary pre-travel vaccinations at least one month prior to their journey to ensure the effectiveness of the vaccines.
The pre-travel health services are available across all DHA Primary Healthcare Centres and the services include pre-travel counselling, risk assessment, vaccinations and medications.
Dr Alia Mohammad Al Dallal, consultant family physician and acting director of the Specialised Programme Services Department at DHA’s Primary Health Care Sector, said: “In terms of the COVID-19 vaccine, people who intend to travel should first seek their health-care provider’s advise so that they can assess their medical condition, allergies if any, pre-existing health conditions and accordingly seek advice with regard to the vaccine.”
