Shreveport Mayor Calls on President to Send Americans Checks
More than 30 mayors from across the country are asking President Joe Biden to move forward quickly with a plan to send recurring checks to Americans until this pandemic is over.
Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins joins 33 other mayors in supporting the plan. Perkins says the US economy already didn’t work for half of all Americans and the pandemic has just exacerbated that, and this is a way to help folks out while stimulating the economy.
The group of mayors bought a full-page ad in the Washington Post showing support for the plan. The heading on the ad says One more check is not enough.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell announced Wednesday that the city will fall back to a modified Phase 1.
The announcement came as the COVID-positivity rate in Orleans Parish jumped to 10.4%. That’s up from 5.5 percent.
