Eastern Alberta drug-trafficking investigation seizes $80K, firearms and drugs

  EDMONTON A nearly six-month-long investigation by various law enforcement agencies in eastern Alberta have led to two arrests and kilograms worth of drugs seized. Mounties say approximately $80,000 in cash believed to be proceeds of crime, over seven kilograms of suspected drugs, two kilograms worth of suspected buffering agents, and a number of prohibited firearms were seized through three coordinated search warrants. According to police, the drugs seized amount to around 60,000 doses. RCMP say a drug investigation from September 2020 where a Myrnam, Alta., resident was allegedly trafficking methamphetamine in the St. Paul and Bonnyville region lead them to other drug operations in eastern Alberta.

  CALGARY The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) organized crime unit in Calgary seized an estimated $3 million worth of drugs and cash from two homes, including what is believed to be the province s largest ever seizure of gamma-hydroxybutyrate, known as GHB. The busts happened April 27 at two homes one in the neighbourhood of Killarney and another in Bankview following a short-term investigation into alleged drug trafficking . ALERT seized enough methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and GHB to equal an estimated 100,000 doses, read a release.  The GHB seizure of 113.5 litres is believed to be the largest seizure of its kind in Alberta.

Edmonton police seize more than $180,000 in illegal drugs following four-month long investigation

Article content Edmonton city police have seized thousands of dollars worth of illegal drugs and charged two men and a woman following a four-month-long investigation. Edmonton Police Service along with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) began an investigation into possible drug trafficking by a 44-year-old man back in January.
