THUNDER BAY - A serious three-vehicle collision that closed Arthur Street West for several hours has claimed the life of a 69-year-old woman.
The collision occurred Monday morning at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Arthur Street West just east of Mapleward Road. Based on initial examination of the scene, it appears a vehicle crossed the centre line and resulted in a head-on collision.
Two people were transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, one said to have sustained life-threatening injuries.
According to Thunder Bay Police Service Traffic Unit Acting Sgt. Sal Carchidi, a 69-year-old woman from Atikokan was pronounced dead a short time later.
