Thunder Bay’s efforts in crushing COVID-19 appear to be paying off.
The health unit tells us while there are three new cases for Thursday, 47 are resolved, which has pushed the active case load to 103.
Wednesday it was 148.
There’s also a glimmer of good news for Thunder Bay’s health unit concerning the possible variant reported Wednesday, in that it is actually for another region.
We’ll have the number of people receiving care at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre when that comes available.
Ontario is recording almost 3,300 new cases.

THUNDER BAY Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre now offers its patients the opportunity to voluntarily self-identify as Indigenous.
As of March 16, the hospital asks patients at registration if they wish to identify themselves as First Nations, Metis or Inuit
If they answer yes or no the response is saved in the person s electronic medical record, thereby negating the need to ask the question during future visits.
Individuals who choose not to respond initially will get the chance to do so upon their next visit.
TBRHSC said it implemented the initiative in order to better understand its patients and to improve how they are served.

There are fifteen new cases of the coronavirus being reported within the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
Officials indicated Wednesday that a case has been identified as a possible variant of COVID-19.
With sixteen cases resolved the active case count stands at 148:
Six cases obtained through someone else who had the virus
Three cases picked up outside of the home
Five cases have no known exposure
One case cause is pending
In Ontario there are 3,215 new cases to go along with 17 deaths.

Officials also report fifteen resolved cases, which means the active case count now sits at 149.
In Ontario Tuesday there were 3,065 new infections reported along with eight deaths.
