Man in hospital with serious injuries in north-side assault

One male was arrested and another sent to hospital with serious injuries following a weekend incident at a north-side residence.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Uniform Patrol Branch were dispatched to a home in the zero-to-100 block of Cumberland Street North at about 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, March 13 following reports of a disturbance.
When police arrived they learned an altercation had taken place between two males inside the home during a gathering there. During the altercation, one of the two involved males sustained injuries consistent with a stabbing.

Ernesta was born January 13, 1929 in Gorizia, Italy. Ernesta moved to Canada in 1949 and met her future husband, Edward, in Brandon, Manitoba, where they married. They later moved to Port Arthur (Thunder Bay) in 1951 and lived in Current River for many years.
Ernesta worked as a Nurses Aid in various hospitals, even after the children were born, for several years due to her love for her job.
Ernesta was an excellent cook and passed on her talents to her daughter Glorya. Many family dinners were enjoyed with her ravioli, gnocchi and veal, not to forget her amazing apple pie.
