Indian Oil Corporation Ltd rose for a fifth straight session today. The stock is quoting at Rs 100.2, up 1.42% on the day as on 12:44 IST on the NSE. The benchmark NIFTY is up around 1.26% on the day, quoting at 14832.05. The Sensex is at 50387.73, up 1.18%. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd has added around 6.77% in last one month.
Meanwhile, Nifty Energy index of which Indian Oil Corporation Ltd is a constituent, has added around 0.17% in last one month and is currently quoting at 16950.5, up 1.5% on the day. The volume in the stock stood at 270.52 lakh shares today, compared to the daily average of 299.04 lakh shares in last one month.
Energy stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Energy index falling 33.24 points or 0.57% at 5784.73 at 13:48 IST. Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Goa Carbon Ltd (down 3.03%), Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (down 2.12%), Reliance Industries Ltd (down 1.33%), Aegis Logistics Ltd (down 0.92%), and Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 0.38%), were the top losers. On the other hand, Selan Explorations Technology Ltd (up 5.73%), Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 3.46%), and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 3.08%) moved up.
At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 1159.45 or 2.39% at 49760.06.
The Nifty 50 index was up 355.15 points or 2.49% at 14636.35.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 278.17 points or 1.52% at 18631.49.
Diesel price was also unchanged at Rs 76.48 per litre. Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by 25 paise per litre on January 27, according to a price notification from oil marketing companies. This had taken prices in Delhi to Rs 86.30 per litre and Rs 76.48, respectively. Petrol prices in Mumbai stood at Rs 92.86 per litre the same as yesterday. One litre of diesel will cost Rs 83.30 in the city. In Chennai, petrol remained unchanged to sell at Rs 88.82. Diesel was retailing at Rs 81.71 in the city. In Kolkata, the retail price of petrol remained at Rs 87.69 and diesel at Rs 80.08 per litre.
