He added that the Delta Plus variant has also been isolated and cultured at the ICMR-NIV and laboratory tests are also being conducted to check the efficacy of vaccines.

India has reported 50,040 new coronavirus cases and 1,258 deaths in the last 24 hours, data from the health ministry showed.
According to data released by the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Sunday, the total caseload rose to 30,233,183 cases.

This is the tenth consecutive day in the last two months when the death toll has been below the 2,000-mark.
