Srinagar: The Director Handicrafts and Handloom Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah, today chaired a webinar discussing issues with the stakeholders related to pashmina and its future prospectus.
The webinar was held in collaboration with the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Jammu and Kashmir chapter.
In his opening remarks, the Director informed that the webinar has been organized with a view to deliberate on the challenges faced in the Pashmia sector that is serving a very large sector of artisans, craft persons, Handicraft exporters and women artisans.
Issues and concerns from experts and stakeholders in the pashmina industry were flagged during the webinar. The participants made suggestions on the long term and short term measures that the industry and the Governmental agencies need to take to promote handspun and handmade pashmina products and to meet the challenge of machine made products that are encroaching on the livelihoods of the genuine artisans

Chikkamagaluru, Apr 29: After testing negative twice in 10 days, a 32-year-old man from Chikkamagaluru died at a designated Covid hospital in Shivamogga on Wednesday evening, a day before his marriage. Tests conducted after his death confirmed he had Covid, a family member said.
He was cremated as per covid guidelines in his village on Thursday, barely hundreds of metres from a choultry that was to host his marriage.
Prutviraj DM, from Devarakodige in Koppa taluk of Chikkamagaluru district, returned home from Bengaluru two weeks ago after the government decided to impose night curfew in eight big cities to stem the rising tide of Covid cases.

On the eve of World Heritage Day, which is celebrated every year on April 18, the members of INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage), heritage enthusiasts and environmentalists in the city feel that the State government should revoke GO Rt No. 21 that was passed on February 12, 2021 amending the GO 27 dated July 13, 1978, regarding the protected site of Thotlakonda in survey No. 314.

An ancient well which may date back to the twelfth-thirteenth century has been rediscovered in Ambilijhari village inside Dalijoda forest ranges of Cuttack in Odisha. The well, which was a part local folklore for ages, had been totally engulfed in thick vegetation.
According to Anil Dhir of Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), the well has got unique decorative features, seldom seen in ancient Kalinga temples.
