Jakarta. Indonesia s key manufacturing sector indicator has climbed to a decade high last month as producers ramp up outputs following a rise in new orders while pausing downsizing their workforce as pressures on capacity began to appear.
The IHS Markit Indonesia Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index grew to 53.2 in March, from 50.9 in February. That was the highest reading since the index was first published in 2011. Any reading above 50 indicates expansion from the previous month. On the other hand, readings below 50 signal contraction.

Jakarta. Astra International, Indonesia s largest car distributor, has seen its car production picks up pace this year in line with rising demand, giving the company hope for a recovery this year, the company said on Monday.
Astra s car factory utilization has reached 70 percent of its pre-pandemic capacity in the first three months this year, compared to 40 to 60 percent in 2020 as the government s restriction to curb the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted production and dampened demand from consumers.

Jakarta. State-run pharmaceutical company Bio Farma has been producing Covid-19 vaccine under license from China’s Sinovac Biotech since early this year, aiming for 154 million doses before the end of the year.
As of Tuesday, Bio Farma has received vaccine bulk equivalent to 37.5 million doses from Sinovac, the Indonesian company said on Twitter.
Indonesia rolled out Bio Farma-made vaccine when the second stage of mass vaccination began on Feb. 17, targeting 38 million elderly citizens and public sector workers.
