Oman holds strategic consultations with New Delhi

Muscat: The Sultanate and the Republic of India have held a strategic consultation session in the Indian capital, New Delhi.
A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA), said: The Sultanate and the friendly Republic of India held a strategic consultation session in the Indian capital, New Delhi, which discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, trade, investment, science and technology, and consular fields, and stressed the importance of activating and renewing the memoranda of understanding signed between the two sides.
The session was chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al-Harithi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign for Diplomatic Affairs, on the Indian side, HE Sanjay Bhattacharyya, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, touched on cooperation in combating Covid-19 and exchanging views on regional developments and global issues.

This was the first high-level official visit from Oman to India since the onset of Covid-19. Both sides expressed satisfaction that despite the Covid-19 pandemic both sides have kept in close touch and sustained momentum in further consolidation of their strategic relationship. India assured assistance to Oman in its requirement for Covid-19 vaccines, officials said following the meet.

New Delhi [India], January 14 (ANI): A meeting of the India-OmanStrategic Consultative Group (IOSCG) was held physically on Thursday, wherein both sides participated in bilateral discussions pertaining to many issues such as the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to an official release by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), during the IOSCG both sides reviewed the entire spectrum of the India-Oman relationship including in political, energy, trade, investment, defence, security, space, mining, S&T, culture and consular fields. It was agreed that the two sides will pursue various agreements and MOUs in these areas for a future-oriented relationship.

Prominent Saudi human rights campaigner Mohammed Fahad al-Qahtani has launched an open-ended hunger strike in protest against his harsh conditions at a notorious maximum-security detention center south of the capital, Riyadh.
Maha al-Qahtani, the wife of the activist, wrote in a post published on her Twitter page on Monday that her husband had entered the ninth day of the strike due to the stress placed on him by authorities at al-Ha’ir Prison.
