Michael Hirst OBE (pictured), chair of the UK Events Industry Board and Executive Committee members of the BVEP has been appointed to the DMO Challenge Panel following the UK government’s announcement last month on an independent review into Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) across England.
The review, which will take place over the next three months, will look at how DMOs are funded and structured and how they perform their roles. This will help the Government to understand whether there is a more efficient and effective model for supporting English tourism at a regional level, and if so what it might look like.

Sheffield based creative agency Front has launched the first national UK campaign for VisitEngland s North of England City Experience.
The multi-destination city-break connects Newcastle, Hull, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool, via a single rail ticket.
Front created the city experience brand in 2019 when it was launched to international audiences. The campaign will run across digital channels throughout March.
Due to covid restrictions on international travel the focus has now switched to targeting UK consumers with a national campaign to drive internal tourism after lockdown restrictions are lifted.
The project is being managed by Marketing Liverpool, on behalf of the Destination Management Organisations for the five cities, and is funded by the Discover England Fund, managed and administered by VisitEngland.
