In time for Memorial Day, D&R Greenway announces another preservation success: acquisition of 10 wooded acres of Hopewell owned by Nutan Singh. In December 2020.

D&R Greenway Land Trust announces the permanent preservation of its 316th property since its 1989 founding, less than a half mile from where the land trust first purchased land for preservation. This multigenerational half acre, made up of scenic woodland along Hopewell-Wertsville Road, is the second parcel of land preserved by the Marino family with D&R Greenway. Donated by the Marino siblings, preservation of this roadside woodland ensures continuation of the rural character of the area.
During its first decade, the Marino family was among the earliest preservationists with D&R Greenway. Their initial preserved property contributed to the core of the land trust’s Sourlands Ecosystem Preserve that now protects over 3,000 acres within New Jersey’s largest contiguous forest.

About the organization
The Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association, Inc. is a federally recognized tribal organization of the Unangan (Aleut) people in Alaska whose mission is to provide self-sufficiency an independence of the communities served by advocacy, training, technical assistance and economic enhancement.
Duties
The AmeriCorps VISTA member will increase capacity of the organization by the meeting the following objectives: (1) Coordinating regional high school activities designed to introduce students to a wide variety of health and behavioral health careers; (2) Coordinating and supporting behavioral health and health care related trainings throughout the region (i.e. Youth Mental Health First Aid, teenMHFA, Adult Mental Health First Aid, QPR Suicide Prevention, Basic Life Support, Overdose Recognition and Prevention, etc.) (3) Increase presence and maintain regional partnership with school districts, health care facil

Recipients and projects are:
Monroe County Intermediate School District received $68,650 from the Monroe Health Plan Endowment Fund for supporting educator wellness.
Educational staff will now receive evidence-based training, psychoeducation on mental health upon hire, and a physical space in the school building to practice positive, proactive coping skills that will increase learning and self-regulation both personally and professionally.
“Though training is presented to educational staff around Monroe County, including Youth Mental Health First Aid, self-care for the school professional is often the last topic discussed in these trainings. There needs to be a paradigm shift in supporting educator wellness because if our teachers do not have the tools to be regulated, neither will students,” said the Community Foundation.
