Yoplait Donates Refrigerated Trailer Truck to Feeding America West Michigan in Cadillac

9 & 10 News March 15, 2021 Yoplait is partnering with Feeding America West Michigan to improve access to food. Seeing the need for more refrigerator storage Yoplait donated a new 53 foot refrigerated trailer truck to the food bank’s Cadillac location. The truck made its debut on Monday with Feeding America volunteers serving people in Reed City. As with most food banks, Feeding America West Michigan has a nearly 60% increase in food requests so it needed the extra capacity. “We had really a very old vehicle that got retired and this truck is capable of distributing 43,000 pounds of food or approximately 20 pallets worth of food and it’s double our capacity to distribute refrigerated food,” said Patti Jean McCahill, Marketing Director.

When Hockanson started at Feeding America, she said they had five or six mobile food pantry distribution events a month; in 2020, she said they held a distribution event in area counties almost every day; and already this year, Hockanson said they re averaging around 15 distributions a month.
